Hyundai will have plenty to talk about at its press conference in New York next week, but the biggest news is likely to involve the introduction of its 2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid.

While remaining mum about specific details on this high-efficiency gas-electric sedan, it has released a teaser image that clearly shows the styling of at least the Sonata Hybrid's front clip will have a far higher profile than its conventionally powered kin. This latest embodiment of Hyundai's "Fluidic Sculpture" design appears to embrace more of the dramatic flair seen in the firm's Blue-Will plug-in hybrid concept car that was displayed in Detroit.

Although powertrain output, range and pricing information on the 2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid will have to wait until the press conference, previous comments by Hyundai execs lead us to expect it will be fitted with a version of the 2.4-liter Theta II four-cylinder engine teamed with an electric motor fed by an advanced Lithium-polymer (Li-poly) battery pack. Hyundai's other key announcement will be to reveal the 2011 Sonata Turbo, which will feature a turbocharged variation of the automaker's 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine.
