2010 Chicago Auto Show: Ford Transit Connect Taxi

While the Ford Transit Connect is an ideal work vehicle for any small business, it also makes for a pretty capable taxi. Shown in Chicago, the Transit Connect Taxi is prepped and primed to take on people and luggage-hauling duties with an available interior package that includes vinyl seating, a rubber rear floor and a hole in the roof to accommodate lighted signs. And, with maximizing fuel economy in mind, the Taxi is equipped with clean-burning 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that's been converted to run on compressed natural gas (CNG) or propane. It also features an 8.4-inch infotainment system that displays cab fare, news, weather and sport scores, and can complete payments as well -- passengers can pay in cash or even swipe their credit or debit cards once they've reached their destination. The Transit Connect Taxi will go into production soon and be available for the 2011 model year.
