2010 Chicago Auto Show: 2010 Nissan 370Z 40th Anniversary Edition
First announced last fall, the 2010 Nissan 370Z 40th Anniversary Edition made its formal debut in Chicago. Although the original 240Z actually arrived in October 1969, its sixth-generation commemorative follow-up won't hit dealers until the end of this month -- fashionably late, but blessed with both performance and people-pleasing enhancements that should help make up for that unfortunate delay.
Nissan only plans to build 1,000 370Z 40th Anniversary Edition cars for the U.S. All will be based on the Touring-trim Coupes equipped with the Sport Package and a six-speed manual transmission that has Nissan's slick SynchroRev Match feature to prevent any potential downshifting disasters. Finished in bespoke "40th Graphite" paint, each car will feature unique front/rear spoilers and 19-inch Rays forged-aluminum wheels with a "high-luster smoke" surface and wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza RE050A performance tires. Although motivation will come from the same 332-horsepower/3.7-liter V6 used in a base Z-Car, the Nissan 370Z 40th Anniversary Edition does get a standard viscous limited-slip differential and has its stopping power enhanced by a set of Nissan Sport Brakes with red-painted calipers.
Inside, the Nissan 370Z 40th Anniversary Edition is wrapped in custom red leather upholstery and matching trim. In addition to 40th Anniversary embroidered logos in the seatbacks and floormats, they also get a special interior plaque plus 40th Anniversary badging on the front shock tower brace and rear hatch. As a final flourish, each also comes with a duly inscribed commemorative satin car cover. Sticker price for the Nissan 370Z 40th Anniversary Edition is $39,580.
