One of these things is not like the others: Chevy Cobalt
Ford Focus Coupe,
Honda Civic Coupe,
Kia Forte Koup. (
Scion tC is another competitor, but it didn't fit the theme.) Maybe they went with Koup because it's 20-percent easier to text than Coupe. Maybe they were inspired by Krispy Kreme. What we know for sure is that Kia's first two-door
coupe will offer the same 156- and 173-horsepower engines as the
Forte sedan unveiled two months prior at the 2009 Chicago Auto Show, as well as the same suspensions, same interior layout, etc. Differences include the sleeker styling, two fewer doors and one fewer trim level (Koup won't offer the wheel-covered LX trim). A base Forte Koup EX will come well-equipped with a CD/MP3/USB/satellite/aux-in audio system, Bluetooth phone connectivity, power windows and locks, A/C and steering wheel-mounted audio and cruise controls. Stepping up to the SX trim nets more power and a sportier suspension, while a moonroof and leather seating will be offered on both trims. Look for the
2010 Kia Forte Koup to arrive this summer with a starting sticker price in the $16-17,000 range.
