2009 Maserati GranTurismo S: A Cruiser that Carves (3 of 4)

With its larger wheels and tightened suspension (thanks to spring rate changes, shock tuning and a larger rear anti-sway bar), the GranTurismo S offers incisive handling, direct steering with good feedback and impressive grip at a small price in additional harshness transmitted through the sumptuous leather seats versus the non-S version. The highway ride won't beat you up but neither will it loll you in comfort. Extraordinary emphasis has been put on exhaust note, and in Sport mode the burble is satisfyingly exotic, but on long journeys it can get old, so Maserati allows you to mute the note on the highway by shifting away from Sport, which quiets it to a whisper.
