Among the improvements offered by the GranTurismo S are a higher-displacement 4.7-liter engine offering not only 433 horsepower but also a significantly beefed-up and broadened torque band, seven-spoke 20-inch wheels shod with high-performance tires and significantly enlarged cast iron-aluminum six-piston Brembo brakes. Another key difference is the six-speed paddle-shift transmission that is electrically operated. It is not, repeat not, an automatic-manual transmission as we have come to know them, because it is uncomfortable (and intractable) in automatic mode, but in two clutch-less manual modes it will deliver remarkably quick, sure upshifts and downshifts.
