2009 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid: A Big, Bold New Shade of Green

Already the leader in large luxury SUV sales, the Cadillac Escalade will soon offer a new 2-Mode Hybrid system good for a 50-percent improvement in city fuel economy, according to company officials. The Escalade Hybrid promises not to require a huge sacrifice in capability, either, with seating for eight, maximum towing capacity of 6,000 pounds and two- or four-wheel drive. At low speeds the Escalade Hybrid can move on electricity alone, and on the highway it can effectively shut down four of its eight cylinders to improve fuel economy. The Escalade Hybrid arrives Summer 2008 but pricing has yet to be announced.
