Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Awards of 2015 3

The latest Chevy Impala is at once a throwback to family cars of yore and one firmly established in the now with the latest technology and conveniences. Amid a sea of midsize sedans, the Impala's full-size dimensions make it a standout in its field and on the road. But don't mistake the latest Impala for the one your daddy drove. Heck, you can't even compare today's Impala to the version from just two years ago.

New Skin, New Features, New Manners

Totally revamped just last year, the newest generation Impala brings fresh style, thoughtful amenities and fine road manners. What it hasn't lost is its generous interior room, including a spacious rear seat that can even accommodate adult-size children. No wonder Chevy's full-size 5-passenger sedan again gets our nod as a Best Family Car.

If you really want to see where the Impala separates itself from a midsize sedan, pop open the trunk. There you'll find a cavernous 18.8 cubic feet of space. That amount of room will accommodate the plunder from a shopping trip to the warehouse store or a week's worth of luggage. For even more flexibility, the rear seats fold in a 60/40 split to accommodate long items.

Inside the cabin, the Impala is just as impressive. In addition to the copious passenger room in back, the front boasts a nicely laid-out console with controls that are easy to reach and simple to use. This year even brings the option of a built-in 4G LTE connection that turns the Impala into a Wi-Fi hotspot, ideal for tablet-toting passengers who want to stay connected.

Road-trip Ready

Comfort is key to the Impala's impressive road manners. In our full review of the 2015 Chevy Impala, we lauded the sedan for its plush, quiet ride. We are especially smitten with models fitted with the optional 3.6-liter V6 engine, whose 305 horsepower equal effortless acceleration and passing power. New this year is a bi-fuel Impala that can run on natural gas or traditional gasoline.

No matter which Impala you choose, it will provide comfort, quiet and room for a family to spread out on a road trip. That makes the Impala a returnee on our list of Best Family Cars, while its sub-$28,000 starting price helped it win in the Full-Size Category of the Kelley Blue Book Best Buys of 2015.
