Although the concept and the name were introduced almost four years ago at the 2007 Detroit Auto Show - and GM hasn't stopped talking about it since -- the Chevy Volt is finally hitting the streets. The EPA says the Volt will travel 35 miles on battery power, after which its range-extending gas generator will generate enough electricity to deliver another 344 miles. It's smaller but nicer inside than you might expect and downright pleasant to drive, offering plenty of low- and mid-range acceleration and a quiet highway ride. After four years of hype and waiting, we're relieved to find out we like the 2011 Chevy Volt.
