2016 Porsche 911 Carrera and Boxster Black Editions unveiled
Mixing noir-themed charm with a solid value, the 2016 Porsche 911 Carrera and Porsche Boxster Black Editions are set to arrive in U.S. showrooms at the end of July. As their names imply, both feature black exterior and interior treatments which are complemented by a selection of premium equipment upgrades. And pricing on all Black Edition variants reflect savings of roughly $7,000 versus comparably equipped models.
The 2016 Porsche 911 Black Edition will be available on the standard Carrera and Carrera Cabriolet as well as the all-wheel-drive Carrera 4 and Carrera 4 Cabriolet models, which sticker at $89,975, $99,495, $95,795 and $105,595, respectively. All have a 350-horsepower/3.4-liter flat-6 engine paired with a 7-speed manual transmission or optional 7-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic. Specific Black Edition upgrades include LED headlights with the Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus, 20-inch 911 Turbo forged-alloy wheels, front/rear Park Assist with a backup camera, heated sport seats and a Bose Surround Sound System, all set off with Black Edition logo touches. In addition to stepping up to Jet Black Metallic paint, buyers also can further personalize their cars with items from the extensive roster of existing 911 options.
A more affordable alternative is the 2016 Porsche Boxster Black Edition, which opens at $60,095. Like other base versions of Porsche's mid-engine rear-drive roadster, it's fitted with a 265-horse/2.7-liter flat-6 that can be matched with a standard 6-speed manual transmission or optional 7-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic. Exterior upgrades for the new Black Edition Boxster include 20-inch Carrera Classic alloy wheels, Bi-Xenon headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System and front/rear Park Assist. The cabin enhancements include Porsche's Communication Management system with navigation, premium Sound Package Plus audio, dual-zone climate control and heated seats. No Jet Black Metallic paint here, but the available extras list does include Sport Suspension, Porsche Active Suspension Management and the Sport Exhaust System.
