2011 Acura TSX Sport Wagon @ 2010 New York Auto Show

Another New York world debut, the new 2011 Acura TSX Sport Wagon provides Honda's upline division an even more practical take on the entry-level luxury offered by its sedan siblings. Although Acura held back a few of the details on this five-passenger wagon -- including pricing info -- until closer to its fall on-sale date, the newest TSX family member clearly blends style, features and functionality in a way the automaker feels will make it a worthy addition to the lineup.

Derived from the compact TSX four-door, Acura's first-ever wagon variant also shares a good deal of its basic platform architecture with the Euro-spec Honda Accord Touring model. Unlike the sedan, the 2011 Acura TSX Sport Wagon initially will only be offered with one powertrain pairing: the existing 2.4-liter all-aluminum i-VTEC inline four-cylinder engine paired with a Sequential SportShift five-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. While Acura provided no output numbers, we expect to see the 201 horsepower/170 lb.-ft. of torque specs carry. It did indicate that highway mileage on the TSX Sport Wagon will be at least 30 mph when the final EPA figures are issued.

In keeping with its station, the 2011 Acura TSX Sport Wagon comes will an impressive roster of standards, from leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control and a power moonroof to a premium audio package, Bluetooth/USB/iPod connectivity and a comprehensive array of safety features. While its formal cargo capacity was not released, the rear bay of the TSX Sport Wagon does include a removable side panel to better accommodate wider items as well as integrated under-floor bins for hidden storage, all of which is accessed via a large, single-piece liftgate. Heading the list of options are a hard disk drive-based Acura Navigation System with an all-new eight-inch full VGA high-resolution color display, AcuraLink Real-Time Traffic and Weather and an Acura/ELS Surround Premium Audio System and hard disk drive media storage.

Although it won't match the absolute quickness of a V6-powered TSX Sedan, the 2011 Acura TSX Sport Wagon promises to provide the same kind of enthusiast grade handling capabilities. Complementing its well-tuned independent suspension, electronic stability/traction controls and capable anti-lock disc brakes are 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in V-rated 225/50 all-season tires.
