Narrowing down the initial entry list of 51 cars, the World Car Steering Committee -- comprised of 59 journalists from all over the world -- has picked the three finalists for the 2009 World Car of the Year (WCOTY) award. These vehicles are the Ford Fiesta, Toyota iQ and the Volkswagen Golf VI, none of which are currently sold in America (although the Ford Fiesta, pictured at left, will be offered Stateside very soon). In order to be eligible for this award, each of the nominees needed to be in production and sold on at least two continents in 2008. The winner will be announced at the 2009 New York International Auto Show in April.
