2009 New York Auto Show: Acura ZDX Concept REVEALED

By Editors on April 9, 2009 9:13 AM
A one-off at the moment, a productionized Acura ZDX will arrive in dealer showrooms this fall. Blending the visual elements of coupe, sedan and crossover designs with sophisticated powertrain and packaging features, Acura believes this futuristic four-door liftback will carve its own sizable niche in an emerging market segment. The ZDX matches its "powerful" VTEC V6 engine with a new six-speed automatic transmission that features Sequential SportShift. A similar level of built-in performance bias also is evident in its crisply tuned, fully independent suspension augmented by Acura's traction-maxing Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system. While the panoramic glass roof in the ZDX show car will likely make it to volume-build status, we can only hope that the nifty single-piece all-glass rear hatch and those 20-inch wheels also make the cut. Acura has confirmed that in addition to its richly-appointed and space-efficient interior the ZDX will offer numerous premium options, including voice-recognition Navigation, AcuraLink Real-Time Traffic and Weather, Acura/ELS Surround premium audio and Bluetooth as well as a blind-spot information system, and a rear-view camera with both wide-angle and top-down imaging.
