2009 New York Auto Show: 2010 Subaru Legacy First Look
By KBB.com Editors on April 10, 2009 11:15 AMMaking its New York debut, the completely redesigned 2010 Subaru Legacy grows in size, style, features and powertrain sophistication. The roomiest, quietest and most refined Legacy ever boasts a 3.2-inch longer wheelbase and is 3.9-inches wider than its predecessor. Subaru's flagship four-door will be offered in 2.5i, 2.5 GT and 3.6R variants for 2010, with Limited and Premium trim upgrades. All will come with powertrain-specific versions of Subaru's Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive as well as standard Vehicle Dynamics Control systems and four-wheel disc anti-lock brakes. The 2.5-liter horizontally opposed four in the Legacy 2.5i now makes 170 horsepower and can be matched with either a new six-speed manual transmission or Subaru's new, and more efficient Lineartronic continuously variable automatic (CVT). The enthusiast-oriented 2.5 GTs are fitted with a new 265-horse turbocharged/intercooled boxer four that can only be paired with the six-speed gearbox. Melding performance with an added measure of comfort, the top Legacy 3.6Rs move from a 3.0-liter six to a new 3.6-liter that makes 265 ponies -- 20 more than the 3.0 -- but burns regular, rather than premium gas.
