2009 Bentley Continental GTC Speed: High Winds

A post-shampoo tip: There's no better way to get that trendy bedhead look than with a 195-mph top-down romp in the new $220,000-plus Bentley Continental GTC Speed convertible. The brand's most powerful drop top, the GTC Speed's 600-horsepower turbocharged 12-cylinder engine is only about 50 horses short of the engines found in those other open-top vehicles, Indy cars. With the top down, the top speed is about five mph short of 200 and Bentley claims all-wheel-drive-aided zero-to-60-mph times of 4.5 seconds. With all this speed, opting for the available carbon-ceramic brakes is recommended. So equipped, the price may approach $250,000. A discrete trunk-mounted spoiler distinguishes the GTC Speed from the proletarian Continental GTC. Bentley says the GTC Speed was inspired by the company's "Speed Models" from the 1920s. Perfect, since 2009 feels a lot like 1929.
