Based on the same propulsion system in the new Vue Green Line 2 Mode hybrid, Saturn expects the plug-in Vue to be the first regular production plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, stating that production "may begin" in 2010. The Vue Plug-In Hybrid recharges its lithium-ion battery pack via a fender-mounted socket which can connect to any standard 110-volt outlet. After a full charge of about four to five hours, the Vue Plug-In can run solely on electric power for about 10 city-speed miles. Higher speeds or greater distances activate the 3.6-liter VVT gas engine, which simultaneously recharges the battery pack.
