Despite a trend toward smaller, more agile and more fuel-efficient vehicles, the realm of the full-size luxury
SUV seems to have missed the memo. As proof, the
2013 Cadillac Escalade shows no desire to change and no attempt to shed chrome, horsepower or price. And that's just the way Cadillac buyers like it. As popular with celebrities as it is with politicians, professionals and well-to-do soccer moms, the Escalade is pretty much in a league of its own. Be it the Escalade, its extended companion, the Escalade ESV, the open-bed EXT or the fuel-efficient (if you can call 23 mpg fuel efficient)

Cadillac Escalade models receive a few modest updates for 2012, highlights of which include two new exterior colors for Escalade SUV models (Radiant Silver Metallic and Crystal Red Tintcoat), a new center console design, and navigation system enhancements.
Changes to the 2011 Cadillac Escalade EXT are minor and include some new color choices, enhancements to the navigation and OnStar system and the addition of more sound proofing. Cadillac's Premium Care Maintenance is standard on all 2011 Escalade EXTs.
For 2010, Cadillac adds Active Fuel Management (cylinder deactivation) to its 6.2-liter V8 engine. Other new features include a console mounted USB port, a locking steering column and seat-mounted front side thorax airbags.
Except for its lower-priced
Chevrolet Avalanche cousin, the Escalade ESV has no direct competition. Lincoln's Mark LT luxury pickup (based on the Ford F-150) comes close, but has a short bed and lacks the midgate bed-extender.
