The 6-speed manual gearbox is gone from all but the CTS-V models. There are some minor finish tweaks on the grille, a couple new metallic paint colors, standard remote starting across the range and some new equipment for the Base, Luxury, Performance and Premium trim packages.

2012 CTS models receive a new available 318-horsepower V6 engine, three new exterior colors (Black Diamond, Opulent Blue and Mocha Steel) and standard Bluetooth hands-free phone capability. The exterior colors are also available for the CTS-V models, as well as an available blind spot warning system for the coupe model.

A fuel-saving 3.0-liter gasoline direct injection V6 is now the CTS' standard engine. New features include an air filtration unit with automatic cabin odor filtration and available 19-inch polished aluminum wheels. Later in the model year, a wagon version will join the CTS lineup (reviewed separately).

2009 Cadillac CTS

The highly refined new 2009 CTS-V begins with a major advantage over its predecessor: it's based on the vastly improved 2008 CTS, which is at least the equal of anything in its class. Into this sophisticated new platform, Cadillac has inserted a new 556-horsepower 6.2-liter supercharged V8, a somewhat tamer sibling of the mighty, hand-built 638-horsepower "LS9" V8 that powers the new Corvette ZR1.

About Cadillac CTS

Totally revamped just last year, the 2015 CTS is Cadillac's formidable entry into the midsize luxury sport-sedan segment. Like its European competitors the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class, the Cadillac CTS offers a fine blend of style, comfort, technology and performance. Three engines are available, from a turbocharged 4-cylinder that achieves up to 30 mpg to a twin-turbo V6 that outputs 420 horsepower. For drivers requiring enhanced traction, all-wheel drive can be had in lieu of the standard rear-wheel drive. For 2015, the CTS will be sold as a sedan only, with the wagon and coupe no longer offered. Taking the year off is the CTS-V sedan while a new version of the high-performance Cadillac is developed on this latest CTS' acclaimed platform.

Pros: "Great Design, Fun to Drive"

Cons: "Run Flat Tires"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I am very pleased with the car. Great design, always gets looks. I have been lucky to have owned some nice looking cars (traded a Honda S-2000)and none come close to this car. Quality inside and out. I test drove all the German competitors and they are not as engaging to drive. I was worried about the CUE system when I bought the car because of the expert reviews(finger prints). Don't be, you set up most settings once and can use the toggle buttons on the steering wheel for most things. I think I wiped the screen twice in a year. Run Flat Tires only negative."

"I've driven BMW 5 series for years; no more. This car is better than the the 5s and Audi 6 and MB 3s all day long. Quick and comfortable. Just a great car."
