For 2011, the Volvo V50 no longer offers the naturally-aspirated 2.4-liter model or optional all-wheel drive. The 2011 Volvo V50 lineup now consists of two trims: The base V40 T5 and V50 R-Design.
The Volvo V50 is a compact premium wagon derived from the same chassis as the sporty S40 sedan. Although not large enough to provide a third-row seat, the V50's enclosed cargo area offers easy access when loading or retrieving items, as well as additional roof space on which to stow gear. With the rear seats folded down, the V50 can carry a fair bit of cargo or make room for the family dog. The V50 is far more fun to drive than a compact SUV, offers the added traction and stability provided by available all-wheel drive and is loaded with the latest Volvo safety and security technologies.

"I picked up my 2007 V50 T5AWD in Sweden using the Factory Delivery Plan. I would recommend that anyone who is interested in purchasing a new Volvo consider using Factory Delivery, not only do you get to order precisely the vehicle you want, but there is about an eight percent discount on MRSP. Factory Delivery also includes two round trip tickets on SAS, a free night at the Radisson and a factory tour. The car is solid, well optioned, stylish, fast and handles well. 24 hours after delivery, I was cruising the Autobahn at 125mph, the next day I was doing hot laps on the Nurbergring. This is a car that handles just about anything you ask it to, and does it in style and comfort. Fit and finish is excellent and it has the most comfortable seats I have had in any of my vehicles so far."

"Have owned the vehicle for 1.5 years now, so I feel confident giving an accurate review. Comfort, build quality and reliability have been beyond reproach so far. 42,000 miles on the odometer and exactly 1 repair needed beyond routine maintenance: rattle in the dash at 5000 miles, fixed under warranty. Still has original rotors, pads, tires (although we have used blizzaks in the winter months). Excellent, supportive seats, good ride quality, sharp handling for a FWD-based car, although I do have the T-5 AWD version. Steering is way too light and lacking in feel, but is accurate, and it is easy to place the car where you want it in turns. Engine has great low-to-mid range torque, and is mostly a smooth operator, providing adequate if not thrilling power for most driving situations, ie passing, merging. Good, progressive throttle and brake inputs, easy to operate smoothly. Transmission has good ratios, and mostly does it's job unobtrusively. Occasionally shifts more abruptly than other autoboxes in the same class, and manual mode isn't really worth the trouble for the most part (no rev-matching on downshifts, doesn't react as quickly as you'd like to inputs). Gas mileage as high as 30 mpg on highway trips in the summer months, overall about 24 mpg for the life of the vehicle on premium fuel. Does just fine in the snow (with blizzaks, as mentioned previously) but audi is still the best here. Interior: Excellent seats, with excellent support for long trips, good, fast seat heaters, and more than enough adjustments to get comfortable (have premium package). Upgraded audio is more than worth it, far better quality than in my g35, or even my father's 530i. All controls are logically positioned and work intuitively (unlike the 530i). Decent room in back for 2 (forget 3, this is a smallish car). Seats fold completely flat, and provide plenty of cargo capacity when you need it. Overall, would recommend to anybody looking at a small SUV who wants more style, better performance, and probably better mileage in a premium package. Has also performed more reliably to date than the last few Japanese cars we have owned at similar mileage (Honda Accord and Subaru Legacy). It is a bit pricey with options, but you seem to get what you pay for, and there are plenty of discounts out there if you are willing to look. A great small family wagon with sporty tendencies, if not quite a sports wagon."

"I purchased my V50 slightly used (it was a demo) and I have to say it was overall a great buy. It's great for road trips or just using it as a grocery getter. I commute 35 miles each way to work and the car performs well and is easier on fuel than most other cars in it's class. Although I recommend purchasing the T5 model over the 2.4i because of better performance, the 2.4i is a great car. The styling on the outside is superb and it is a true sports wagon. However, the inside could use some sprucing up. The cup holders are somewhat ugly and could use some dressing up. The cloth seats are comfortable and easy to clean. The stereo system in the base model is a great value and you wont be disappointed. The 2.4i is not as peppy as the T5 when it comes to entering the freeway, but it's got it's fair share of acceleration. There are virtually no blind spots and you wont feel as though you're driving a wagon. There aren't many of these on the road and the car does make heads turn. Overall the V50 is a great car for a couple with two children. I wouldnt recommend a fifth passenger as that does cramp the rear seat. The center console doesnt offer much storage, nor do the door pockets, but there is a hidden compartment behind the stereo cluster that is great for women's purses. The storage in the hatch is great and the seats will fold flat for hauling. Overall, it's a great buy and you can save thousands on purchasing this vehicle as a demo."
