Once upon a time, Volvos were relatively uninspiring boxes with a reputation for safety and ruggedness but their only "style" was the very lack of style. Then, less than decade ago, the brand began a life-altering transformation, converting from rear- to front-wheel drive and from boxy to stylish, inside and out. Then came upscale elements of performance, luxury and athletic handling. Today's entire Volvo line, small to large, reflects these qualities, in addition to the marque's continuing signature obsession with safety. Though pricier than comparable domestic and Japanese sedans, Volvos offer lower price tags than those of German competitors.

"I just got this car after extensive searching for the sedan or SUV that would be most comfortable given chronic neck and back pain. I have had it only 1 week and already feel the difference. I have never driven a more comfortable car. Used to drive an Acura TL 03 which I loved but which did not give enough upper body support. Also thought about an Acura RL but seats in the Volvo are much more comfortable, especially with extended driving. The ride is incredibly smooth, lots of power. It's a lot bigger than I realized at 1st, feels very substantial. I love it."

"The best value in it's class. The 2007 used is $7000 cheaper than the 5 series BMW, mercedes E class, or cadillac CTS. 25000 miles and has never been in the shop except for oil changes. The comfort is second to none. I've owned mercedes and bmw and there is no comparison for what you get at this price point. It's much cheaper to maintain. I will be a loyal Volvo owner as long as they produce a vehicle this good."

"This is my second Volvo. A dramatic improvement over my 1998 Cross Country. Smooth acceleration. Incredible braking. I can only compare the seat comfort to my old BMW 7 series. Great lines. Got over 30 MPG don a recent 3000 mile trip that encompassed both highway and some city driving."
