I own this car - My approximate mileage is 136,000

Pros: "Reliable, Good Mileage for size, Great Ride"

Cons: "Expensive Gas recommends premium fuel"

"I have owned this car for a year and a half and I have loved every minute. No engine or transmission troubles. Car is big and roomy, yet does not feel sluggish (Not a race car by any means but its no grandpa car)"

Bought used 2005 S80 T6 Prem

Pros: "Good accelleration, lots of bells & whistles"

Cons: "Rough ride, many suspension repairs"

"Bought this slightly used for my daughter because it had a great safety rep and was luxurious. I wasn’t happy with the ride quality as it was rough, but I figured it just needed dampers; I was wrong. Two of three Motor mounts failed, strut tower mount failed, and something else in the suspension all failed after a few months. Thank GOD for after market warranty! Not sure if I would buy one again."

Great car

Pros: "Super powerful"

Cons: "Electronics."

"Super powerful comfortable car. The electronics could be better in my opinion. The siren computer is broken disabling the keyless entry and the sun roof. I had a tough time explaining the dealer and gave up as it is too expensive to fix."

I LOVE our Volvo S80!

Pros: "great engine, perfect transmission, boxy but safe!"

Cons: "attracts door dings... all else is terrific!!!!!!"

"My wife and I have owned a lot of different cars the last 30+ years. We have had sports cars (RX7, Porsche, Mustang, Firebird), family cars (Taurus, Mazda Millenia, CRV, Toyota SUV, Honda Accord, Chevy Impala, Chevy Malibu), inexpensive cars (Volkswagen, Aries K), fun cars (CRX-Si, RX7, Porsche, Mazda Millenia S), and too many Ford Exploders to count. In all this time our FAVORITE car has been our 2002 Volvo S80. Long ago we bought used cheap chars, then later bought only new, but for the last 10-15 years we have typically owned 1 new and one gently used with 20-40,000 on it. We got this Volvo with 24,000 miles on it -- and it was a STEAL for about 1/2 of the sticker price as a certified used car. We paid the extra to get the 100,000 mile extended warranty... and had a bunch of stuff (engine mounts, fuel pump, ignition wires, transmission service, etc.) repaired at 99,900 miles under the extended warranty. (GREAT DEAL!!) Since then we have replaced the timing belt at 105,000 and the starter at about 150,000. Other than that, the ONLY thing we have replaced have been tires and brakes. Amazingly, we are still running on the original shocks/struts -- but we have them checked at every oil change/tire rotation. We plan to replace another timing belt before 210,000 miles. Frankly, I see no reason why this car will not make it to 300,000 miles... and about then we might convert it into our sons college car. We have had the dealership do the major work, but everything else I have had my HONEST tire shop do...or I have handled. We have been RELIGIIOUS about regular oil changes... and since we topped 100,000 I have been running extended-life synthetic oil in it. The side curves aree door-ding magnets, but otherwise the pain job and all else still looks terrific. Not a fleck of rust... though we do garage in overnight during our Michigan winters. BTW, it's also GREAT on snow once you know how to use traction control... better than our current CRV 4-wheel drive and better than most of the Ford Exploders we owned in the past."

Very happy about my Volvo S80

Pros: "Nice ride, gas milaege, safty"

Cons: "None"

"I own a 2006 Volvo S80. The ride is very smooth and quite. This is not a sports car. That is a good thing since it produces may be the best gas mileage for a luxury car. Much better than other luxury cars, large or small. Unlike other premium bands, Volvo alows you using regular gas. Volvo is famous for its safty. Volve holds world record for longivity (~3 million miles). Volve is under value and so it's a best buy."

worst car I ever owned in 44 years

Pros: "fun and confortable to drive. good looking car"

Cons: "bad transmissions/expensive repairs"

"This car eats transmissions! Transmission went out at 80K. Took the car to a certified Volvo repair shop 4 times trying to rebuild the transmission, only to have it break down again within 2 to 4 days. One time it blew gaskets and leaked transmission fluid all over my garage floor and had to be towed from my garage back to repair shop. Finally, on the 5th time trying to fix the problem the repair facility put in a used transmission from a wreaked 30K mile S80, since a brand new one is way to costly for most of us. That transmission lasted 30K miles and broke down just before I was going to have the transmission serviced. It now sets in my garage with a bad transmission deciding what to do with it. Don't waste your hard earned money on a Volvo. Expensive repairs and very unreliable."
