I own this car - My approximate mileage is 260,000
overall rating 10 of 10rating detailsPros: "safety, reliability, looks, ..., everything!"
Cons: "sunvisors continually break."
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"Bought this car new - have almost 260,000 miles on it. It's been rear-ended twice, has protected my daughters as they began to learn to drive, and will forever have a place in my driveway! It's now almost 18 years old, drives wonderfully, have not had to have anything major done to it. The AC blower just went out, so I'm headed to my mechanic Monday to get it fixed. The only problem I've ever had with it is the breaking of the visors. I've been through 3 sets, and they're extremely expensive! Need another one now for the driver's side but can't find one. :-( Husband keeps telling me I need a new car - I keep telling him no I don't - UNLESS I can find a new '94 940!"

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 193,000
overall rating 10 of 10rating detailsPros: "Safe, Sturdy, Comfortable for tall people"
Cons: "gas mileage is not the best"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"I have driven everything from a Honda Civic to GMC Sierra and I feel compelled to say that the 1994 Volvo 940 sedan is the best car I've ever driven. The only downside of this vehicle is the gas mileage is not spectacular (between 20-23 miles per gallon) so its not very efficient in that sense, however this tank of a car is the safest, sturdiest, most reliable car in the world! A plus side is that the gas tank is 19.2 gallons so from where I live in southern California, I can drive to San Francisco without refueling. The turning radius is impeccable!!! I know no such thing of this "3-point turn" due to the fact that my Volvo will pull a U-turn without any hesitation and without needing to reverse and so forth. Parallel parking is no problem whatsoever. This car is reliable to no end, some going well beyond 200,000.....300,000 even up to 500,000 miles and still going strong!!! If you are considering buying an older, used car, consider a Swedish made Volvo (pre-Ford)."

"after 181k MILES, still going strong. only small problems i.e. rad hose leak and no heat in the winter (yes, has coolant - thermostat?). it blows oil/exhaust if it sits idling too long, but hey, it has nearly 200K miles!! love it."

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 150,000
overall rating 8 of 10rating detailsPros: "Very safe, easy to drive and park"
Cons: "Sun roof motor is burned out."
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"This car is 20 years old. Has been well maintained and performs almost as good as when new. Same acceleration, same handling. No rust. Still shines. Better visability than most new cars. Station wagon carries a large load without impacting the good handling. Gas mileage is ~23mpg at highway speeds. Only problem is the sunroof motor. Wish Volvo made this same car today."
