Pretty Decent Car

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 800

Pros: "Quite & smooth drive. Could be zippy with S mode."

Cons: "Fuel inefficient compared with Accord/Camry."

"Previously I owned a Nissan Altima, Honda Accord and Toyota corolla. Just to get a different car in mid-size sedan at mid 20K price range., I picked Passat 2.5 SE. We love the comfort with leatherette seat with power adjustment, Bluetooth Audio/cell phone interface, the ease of using the dash board menu, touch screen and rear AC vent. On driving., in Drive mode (D)., you could see a lag. But when put to sports mode (S)., its quite zippy. On a normal Drive mode., the ride is pretty smooth and quite on a freeway."

"Not much to complain about here, LOVE this car. Bought August 2012 fresh off shipping rig. Made in America, (love it) and absolutely amazing gas mileage. I've been keeping track and TOTAL mpg in my Passat TDI across the life of the vehicle is nearly 49. So the 42 highway rating on the sticker is a laugh, bump it up another 10 to 52 and thats more accurate. Warranty is great, I did have a malfunctioning turbo which the dealer told me was very rare. Replaced and back in the car within 5 days. Before that, VW actually sent an engineer to meet with me (from TX all the way to WV to talk to a 24 year old. I was impressed.) based on my comments from my JD Power survey answers. I wasn't happy with the tires, so they replaced them! So my experience as a whole has been great. The interior is just clean. Great tech standard with heated seats, bluetooth etc. Also, not a ton of pickup and power but still fun to drive. Doesn't have quite the same handling as a GTI or loaded Jetta, bulky turns were a little surprising. I was dissapointed that i could not get the 6 spd manual tranny with all the bells and whistles like sunroof, fender sound, 18 in wheels, body trim and NAV becuase I would have shelled out the extra dough. This car is just so WELL put together and so efficient that I can't not be thrilled with it. Overall a 10, reliability is still kind of up in the air due to turbo issue, but that has been my only one to date. Simple controls, tons of trunk space, rear leg room you have to see to believe. The list goes on and on. Love my TDi!"

Great car, excellent value, more car than I expect

Cons: "None! Would like to have xenons."

"This is an extremely well built and engineered car. It is solid, quiet, efficient and a pleasure to drive. My previous Passag was a V6 3.6 which was also an excellent car but the TDI SEL is quite different. Fuel economy is better than expected ranging from 39-48 mpg, with an average 43 city/highway combined. The car is roomy and the seats are quite comfortable. The Fender sound system is great. My iPhone syncs effortlessly with the Bluetooth. Occasionally, the sound and vavigation system seem to lag a bit but if I'm patient they soon catch up and then work fine. I did like the xenon headlights on my previous Passat which are no longer an option. Overall the car feels like a solid German sedan costing much more than $33K. It's just about perfect in every way."

Best Car Ever

"I don't see how VW can top the TDI SEL Premium. It feels, drives, and looks like a much more expensive car. I regularly exceed the advertised city and highway mileage. I'm getting 48 mpg on highway and 36 mpg in the city without resorting to extreme cautious driving practices. Hybrids can't compare."
