"Purchased vehicle from non-VW dealer, but sched. maint. @ VW dealer to keep factory warranty valid. Features & conveniences comparable to BMW, for ~2/3 price! Adequate cargo & passenger space. Very comfortable & fun to drive, esp. in "Tiptronic" mode. MPH = 25/34 city/hwy on regular (87) gas + "Outlaw" booster = 91 octane min recom. Engine never labors nor hesitates; turbocharger responds fine. VW Service says this is acceptable combo."

"Structurally, the car is built like a tank. The ride is awesome. We have the 4 cyl. and were getting about 17.5mpg in town and 22mpg highway on super unleaded ethanol. Switched to Premium fuel and now get 23mpg town 32mpg hwy. Don't run anything but premium fuel and you will do okay on milage. The Turbo cracked at 47k and had to be replaced (luckily under warranty) $2500 repair. After 50,000 miles is when the checkbook came out. We have had to replace: radio, drivers side visor (garage door opener fell apart), drivers side seat adjustment mechanism, brakes, rotars, water pump, all belts, some electonic engine sensor, battery, and cv boots. What is next??? Be ready to pay about double what you are used to paying for repairs as well. I will probably not own another VW in my lifetime."
