"We have certainly gotten our money's worth out of this car. currently 125,000 + miles and going strong. It survived two teenage sons and still drives great. V6 is powerful. Love my sunroof. Not bad for a 15 yeqr old car"
Cons: "problems, problems. live close to a VW dealer"

"I've owned 2 VW's, Passat and jetta. been towed 3 times. the list of issues is long, engine light on and off, mirror fell off, temp light comes on and off, leaks like a sieve in rain, water pump, timing belt, alternator, all with a car less than 80K. back up light quite working. sprang a fuel leak, cost $280 to fix. water pump was over $700. hard to find mechanic in rural area. resale or trade in value is poor."
"What should i begin with: I owned a 2002 jetta 2.0 gasoline auto trans for 3 years and going. ok so: Issues: burns oil(a lot) , No power, misfires, coolant leak, gas guzzler, bad road noise, wet floor boards, starter failed, ignition coil failed, alternator failed, transmission jerks,no head room, no legroom in the back(im 5.8 and still very cramped) and many more issues that i dont recall. Dont buy this model. If u want a real VW buy a diesel"
Pros: "Fun to drive, handles well, excellent power"
Cons: "Plastic parts tend to break with age"

"I drove this car off the lot in February 2000 and have never regretted buying it. After 16 years in a Honda I was ready for something more exciting and the VR6 engine provided that. Engine and auto. trans. are well matched for weight of car and suspension is well tuned. At 104,000 miles body is tight with no leaks or rattles. Just had the a/c recharged, Climate Control works fine. 19 city/26 hwy on regular. Seats are lumbar adjustable and provide excellent support; both electrically controlled with seat heaters. My one main complaint is the plastics used under hood and interior become brittle and are expensive to replace. Problems associated with cooling system, glove box hinges, and console cover latch. I'm giving car to my nephew and will be sorry to see it go. The upside is my fall-back is my 2009 Sportwagen which I enjoy even more but that's for another review."
