I own this car - My approximate mileage is 60,000
overall rating 9 of 10rating detailsLikely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"My husband said he should have bought me this car years ago. I've had this one about 4-5 years. We put a bike rack on it and it is just a lot of fun. I wish they would make a new one and i'd buy it in a second. There is nothing on the market now that compares to it. Good gas mileage, a nice back seat, convertible and just enought pep for me."

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 110,000
overall rating 9 of 10rating detailsCons: "SMALL REAR SEAT AREA"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"I have 110,000 miles on the car and it still runs great. As with all machines it does need repairs at times but nothing out of the ordinary. The car runs great, drives smooth and has never let me down. Some people need to remember, like all machines, as it gets older it will need a little more TLC to keep it going. As cost per mile, it has cost me less that my Jeep or my volvo 850"

"Older Volkswagons have NO RELIABILITY AT ALL. We have spent $1,000 on the Evap system repairs in the last 10 months! It will need another $1,000 in the next 6 months, leaking brakes, worn strut mounts, rusting trans cover! Really??!! The parts are only available from the Dealer most times...at ridiculos prices."

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 114,765
overall rating 4 of 10rating detailsPros: "Handling, fun to drive"
Cons: "constant window problems, engine lags now"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 2
"Windows had some problems from day one. Would go to roll window up, would go up about half way and then go back down so you'd have to start over again. About 4 years ago radio just stopped working. About a year later the back window would start going down all by itself when it was a hot day. 2 years ago window regulator went on driver's side door had that replaced, that was about $600. Window regulator on same side just went again. This time didn't want to pay another $600 and just had the window blocked up. I just want to get rid of this vehicle. Will not purchase another VW. This was my 2nd. 1st one was great 1994 Golf. But had manual windows. No problems there. I will say that I love the responsive handling of a VW. I will miss that. Company needs to do something about the electrical issues with the windows. I'm not the only one. I guess if it's not life-threatening it's not worth a recall."

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 90,000
overall rating 9 of 10rating detailsPros: "Fun to drive; great mileage; cute!"
Cons: "No cup holders"

"Living in upstate NY, the car is stored in winter. However, when we get our sunny times (about 6 months out of the year), I take this car out and use it for my daily drive. It makes commuting to and from work a mini-vacation. It handles like a sports car and sips gas like an ecnono-model. I love it!"

I owned and sold this car
Reason: TOO MANY PROBLEMS - My approximate mileage is 100,000
Pros: "Looked good. Thats it."
Cons: "Expensive fix, bad gas, check engine light always"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 1
"Expensive to fix. Thats all I did with this hunk of junk. Problems after problems. 75,000 miles on when purchased. Had to sell because reverse stopped working. Terrible drive. Every 2 weeks my check engine light would be on. Only pro is top comes down. This car stunk, and will not be buying Volkswagens in future... EXPENSIVE TO FIX."
