"Just restored the truck over the winter. 240000 miles on the original engine and transmission and I'm still getting 28+ miles to the gallon, like it was new. I've changed the clutch, water pump, O-2 sensors, and timing belt, all normal maintenance for this year truck. I prefer driving this truck more than my 2010 Maxima. I will never get rid of this truck. When will Toyota build something this reliable again? Manufactures suggested retail price for this truck in 93 was $9100, I can get $3500 all day long today. Really holds it's value. New Tacoma is $30,000! I'll keep what I got, it's a better truck."
"Mine is actually an 1989, KBB didn't have that year listed. I took it in last year and the mechanic asked me if the engine was rebuilt, because the compression was so good for that year and model. It is the same engine and not rebuilt.
Even though it can climb hills with a good size load, it can also go long distances worry-free. It's a little banged up and I keep thinking about getting a new one, but just can't let it go. It's worth more to me to keep it, then get a thousand dollars selling it and get nothing even close to it's dependability."
Pros: "Reliable, good MPG, Surprisingly strong engine."
Cons: "Small Cab, No A.C., Plastic Dash, No Power Steer."

"My family owned this pickup for over 20 years and have never had 1 breakdown by engine. Only major repairs were a replaced clutch and transmission leak sealed up. Once the battery overflowed with acid and ate through a corde. That was the only I have ever had it not start up for me. If you need it as a daily driver it gets good gas(20 MPG-25 MPG), okay cost to fuel up with a 12 gallon tank. If you need it to tow and transport thing, this pickup is stronger than it looks and can get the job done. This pickup is perfect example of Toyota vehicles having the ability to last you a long time at 151,900 miles it just now feels like the engine is being broke in. One the nice things about it is when a snow storm hits, once you chain up and fill the back with wait like sandbags or shovel it full of snow. This pickup will go everywhere."
"The frame will eventually rust and fall off of this truck but the engine and body is solid and easily repaired. I have met owners of identical trucks and that have had well over 300,000 miles on theirs and are still running, I have no doubt that mine with 275,000 has many more to go as well. If you know anything about maintenance this will be a reliable and easily repaired/maintained vehicle for you. Fun to drive and great on mileage too!"
