"I have had this 1996 Tacoma since 2007. It came with about 175k miles. For the first few years I was driving about 200 miles/week until job change and then it was 1100 miles/week.
In 2011 at 200,000 miles, I needed to change the bearings, alternator and have the a/c system repaired. Plus the regular stuff like oil change and tune-up.
At 240,000 the ball joints needed replacing.
In May of 2015, I replaced the radiator. Somehow the coolant was leaking into the transmission and it needed to be replaced at 455,555 miles.
Now, even though it leaks about 1 quart of of oil (every 2 weeks) from the front main seal, this 20 year old truck has 468,575 miles on it and still work well. We have been through a lot together."
"I commuted with it daily , took family vacations in it, my son used it for college and now it still runs like a champ. The clear coat is starting to peel but only on one door right now. Been offered good price for it but I will wait for which ever new TRD rocks my world."
"This has been my vehicle since 1999 and I could not dream of a better vehicle for someone that is as active as I am. I boat, fish, surf, wind surf sup...you name it. And I love this truck...and I know you will too."
"Bought my 1996 Tacoma Regular Cab Brand New off the lot. I had to repaint her, replace the starter, alternator and radiator and belts.( I drove her very hard in day to day traffic )18 years ago a wonderful young gentleman hit the back of her - but she fixed up just fine. An 18 wheeler blew me off the Interstate once - Tacoma is a very lite truck- she did fine. A/C still blows cold after 20 years and she drives as good as the day I bought her 20 years ago. Just change the oil and keep her clean and she will always be there for you."
"I bought mine used with 126k miles on it 9 years ago. I was only planning on keeping it for 2 years or so. I use it as a work truck and had to make a few anticipated repairs on it, but it has been the best vehicle I have owned, including 2 new cars."
Cons: "Smoothness of drive could be a bit better.."

"As a 63 year old driver I have owned & driven many, many vehicles during my lifetime, but never, in my life, have I ever owned a vehicle as reliable as my 2004 Tacoma Pacesetter / 4 door /6 cylinder truck. The only repair I have ever needed was to replace the brake system @ 90K miles and let's face it, no brake system is going to last forever. I also replaced all the belts & hoses @ 100K but, to me, that was just common sense. Those are "wearable" items that we all know aren't going to last forever...I plan to drive this vehicle for another 100K miles."
