"If your looking for a truck to pamper a woman in, this is probably not for you. If you want a functional, reliable truck, with good hauling, towing, and overall power for the size, this is for you. I have never had one problem with this truck and I have put 120,000 miles on it in less than five years, and it's still worth over $10,000. Good luck trying to find a used one for sale!"
"I had my 2000 since new, so it's seven years old with 100k. I've beaten and abused it and get second gear every chance I get. The first week I had it I took it mudding and trail riding. Tore the skid plate off of it.
I drive it everyday to work and play on the weekends. There more expensive but they are worth it. It's paid for now and I wont get rid of it.
The paint is starting to fade and it has some dings and scratches. I maintain it and change the oil every 3000 miles rather it needs it or not.
The only regret I have is leasing it instead of buying it through my bank "dumb kid" and that I didn't get the v6. Well I save some at the pump.
The only major thing I done to it was getting some BFG all terrains."
"The only negative that I would ever give this little pickup is the fact that it rides rough. That is to be expected when you get a 1/2 ton rating in a little truck. You can't have a smooth ride and stiff enough suspension to pack the load."
"bought ext cab in '99', dealer installed ac....had 75K on it then...up to 187k in '07' I just replaced the clutch-this being the only major repair other than 4 alternators-1 starter- 3 sets of tires- 2 batteries & 1 broken leaf spring...need to remember it's not 4wd...does great off road without any MUD/SNOW/ROCKS..."
"My Tacoma PreRunner is now four years old and is just getting broken in. Just fill with gas, change the oil occasionally and go. Tows 2,500-3,000 pounds with minimal effort. Gets better fuel mileage now than ever. Never been stuck, although it's only a 2WD, even in the blizzard of 2007. The ground clearance, coupled with a few sand bags, and this truck zips through the snow like a champ. Can't say enough good things about it."
