"This truck has been the best I have had yet. This is the vehicle that solidified me being a Toyota driver for life. Great on gas, easy to maintain. Keeping it maintained will also keep it lasting for a loooooong time."
"The most reliable vehicle I have ever owned or seen. It was rated the most reliable vehicle of the past 10 years by some magazine in 2009. Probably car an driver. Its not a dragster but domestic vehicles of it era with 4 cylinder engines can't hold a candle to Toyotas 4 cylinder engines. It is limited in how much weight you can haul in the bed but if you wanted a big hauler buy a full size pickup. Only the clutch switch has broken on it, I don't like clutch switches anyway, I wired it together so it would work without it and the starter had to be replaced."
Pros: "Real ashtray! Sits high so good for safety, kewl"
Cons: "no cupholders, <great gas mileage, noisey driving"

"Bought new, 2003 Toyota Tacoma Off road package, 4x4, 6 cylinder, standard transmission, sprayed on bedliner, running boards, extended cab. All normal maintenance has been kept up. Has a few flaws. A few tiny rust spots and somebody broke the lug nut cover on one wheel. (original wheel covers) Interior defects; driver side, the seat's plastic cover that covers the moving parts(?) is cracked. Driver side door latch does not always open from outside. It will need replacement.
I bought this truck new. Most of the mileage is freeway from driving 60 miles round trip to work, and a few trips to Texas. It's a good truck. Reliable, good AC, never any out of the normal problems. Somebody's kid is going to love this truck!"
"I have had this 1996 Tacoma since 2007. It came with about 175k miles. For the first few years I was driving about 200 miles/week until job change and then it was 1100 miles/week.
In 2011 at 200,000 miles, I needed to change the bearings, alternator and have the a/c system repaired. Plus the regular stuff like oil change and tune-up.
At 240,000 the ball joints needed replacing.
In May of 2015, I replaced the radiator. Somehow the coolant was leaking into the transmission and it needed to be replaced at 455,555 miles.
Now, even though it leaks about 1 quart of of oil (every 2 weeks) from the front main seal, this 20 year old truck has 468,575 miles on it and still work well. We have been through a lot together."
"I commuted with it daily , took family vacations in it, my son used it for college and now it still runs like a champ. The clear coat is starting to peel but only on one door right now. Been offered good price for it but I will wait for which ever new TRD rocks my world."
