I own this car - My approximate mileage is 135,000
overall rating 10 of 10rating detailsPros: "Reliability"
Cons: "Not enough tie downs in bed."
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"Customized at the manufacturer to get the moon roof and other options not available in Oregon, delivered to dealer and haven't quit driving it since. Routine maintenance, tires and 90K mile tuneup are the only things I've done. She thinks she is a beast and goes anywhere I ask her to go (even to the point of pulling out little bro's full sized pickup from hub deep mud). Pulls a small travel trailer with no problem. This little gem is the way to go!"

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 200,000
overall rating 10 of 10rating detailsPros: "Reliablitiy, low maintenance, great value."

"If my 15yr old Toyolta could talk, it would say "I'm ready, put me in coach! It's been a great reliable little truck. Very low maintanance needed. Other then regular oil changes and tire replacements, we've only had to replaced the cluch once. Every time I think about selling it, I can't seem to do it. You know what they say...,If it's not broke don't fix it."

"I own this pickup and am willing to trade up but only to another Toyota just a newer year. I owned a Tacoma and after 12 years upgraded to this one . Now want to trade up again. Best vehicle ever and i am 54 years old and I have owned a few cars and this one is the best."

I owned and sold this car
Reason: Need more power for pickup camper and to pull boat - My approximate mileage is 85,000
Pros: "It always ran and got me where I wanted to go..."
Cons: "None, and I've thought about it...."
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"I owned this truck for 12 years. The original battery lasted 10 years. The only thing I ever had to replace other than tires and oil was shocks. I hated to get rid of something this dependable but needed more power for pickup camper and pulling boat. I replaced it with another Tacoma with a bigger engine."

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 148,000
overall rating 10 of 10rating detailsPros: "Great for hauling young kids and all your stuff"
Cons: "Entertainment system works good / no auxillary jac"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9
"Have taken this from the mountains to the beach and back numreous times in 9+ years. Never had any major problems. Oil changes, Timing belt etc at 100,000 other than that has no problems. I have raised two young kids in the back seat. Definitely need bed extender for stuff like plywood sheets. Handles every day hauling and moving furniture great. I have never towed anything with it so I can't comment on it. Gas mileage isn't awesome 16-18 mpg in town and max 20 mpg on highway, but way better than a bigger trucks."

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 191,000
overall rating 10 of 10rating detailsPros: "Reliability, low cost"
Cons: "Payload capacity."
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"No worries with the Tacoma, as the maintenance costs are VERY low. I purchased it new in '99. Mine is has 191k on it, still has the original clutch, A/C, & exhaust system. Only had to replace a leaking radiator, A/C evaporator, and a bushing in the starter (~$49) which I did myself. Other than normal maint (tires, brakes, oil changes, etc.), there are no surprises. Doesn't burn any oil at all after 191k! This is a great truck and will serve you well. My kids don't want to mess with a 5-speed so I'll keep driving it indefinitely. If you drive very carefully (glide up to stop lights, accelerate slowly), you'll get 28 mpg in the city. Best part- - the trade-in value has actually gone up over the last few years due to the cost of a new one & scarcity. The word is out how reliable these trucks are. There's nothing like low cost + great running/reliable transportation! Have fun!"
