"This is a great reliable car and l got 160,000 on my toyota rav4 2001. Just do you regular maintenance and the car won't give any problems. Transmission fluid change, oil change, front and rear break change, Windows motor replace, Head lamps replace they got yellow, Interior is holding really good. no rust or any problems with the car. Part are really cheap and reliable. Gas is the best it don't waste anything. Its a great car with a good reputation. I have this car in the dominican republic and l can tell you it ruff out their and so far this car as last. I recommended."

Pros: "Awesome reliability, value, gas mileage, room, etc"

Cons: "ECU issue on some models, paints a little thin."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I bought this RAV4 used with about 80k miles on it for 10k cash a few years back. It was a one owner with all the service records. Someone loved this vehicle and it showed. The only issue I had with it was the infamous ECU computer was causing erratic idle and hard shifting like others have had with this 2001-2004 model year. I replaced it for about 600 bucks new (do your research as some dealers charge way more)and it's been fine ever since. The only other things I've replaced were normal wear items like the radiator, all four 02 sensors, brakes, tires, all fluids changed, and that's it. And all these parts are cheap compared to other cars. It has had no mechanical failures and runs like a champ. I love it. I look at new vehicles all the time thinking I want something newer or bigger, but every time I jump back in my RAV4 and haul butt off the dealers lot. I just can't sell it. It's been too great to me and it's paid off. How can anything compete with that? Buy one, you won't be sorry."

"This is the bast car I've ever owned. I've owned this car since new and, with the exception of a couple of manufacture recalled items, have never had to make any repairs that are not normal wear and tear. Pros: mechanically solid, well built with excellent long lasting parts. The paint has lasted and still looks good. Cons: the seating is a little uncomfortable for long drives. I routinely drive for 1-2 hours and the seats are fine, but for 4 hours of longer, they get a little hard to stand (sit)."

Pros: "Love my Rav.. fun to drive and a breeze to park!"

Cons: "cup holder could be more accommodating"

"This is a one owner car and we have had owned it from the beginning! we did have to replace the radiator but with 257,000 miles I don't think that is too much to ask! Other than regular maintenance... tires, brakes, and a clutch.. this little truck just keeps on traveling! This is one of 8 toyota's we have owned and I just cant say enough about how dependable this vehicle and all the others we have owned have been!"

2001 RAV 4

"I purchased the vehicle with 43000 plus miles in 2004 as its second owner. I have never loved a car as they are necessary tools. However, I love the car. It is small but has spacious room for transporting all kinds of materials. I have used it to transport my hand-made items to many craft fairs. I have used it to transport my dog sled and 6 Siberian Huskies for sledding adventures in winter. I drove this vehicle to work for 12 years with no problems in all types of weather. It goes great in snow and rain as the 4-wheel drive kicks in when the climate calls for it."

Pros: "Always starts up, fun to drive, good gas mileage"

Cons: "Radio isn't great, major repair on Transmission,"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 5

"I loved the look of this car when I bought it from the original owner 6 years ago. It was a great car for the first 4 years I had it. The transmission went out just after I hit 150,000 miles. Toyota had an extended warranty on the transmission up to 150,000 miles and I was just over that so they wouldn't cover it. It ended up costing me nearly $3,000 to replace it. I wish I had done my homework a little better before purchasing the car. Apparently this particular year for this model had transmission issues. I bought a Toyota because of their reputation for reliability. In the 6 years I have had the car I have just had to do minor repairs (tires, brakes, etc). I now have to replace the catalytic converter and the struts at 175,000 miles. All in all, I love this car, but I'm not sure I would have purchased it knowing the transmission was bad. That is a very expensive repair."
