"This is a one owner car and we have had owned it from the beginning! we did have to replace the radiator but with 257,000 miles I don't think that is too much to ask! Other than regular maintenance... tires, brakes, and a clutch.. this little truck just keeps on traveling! This is one of 8 toyota's we have owned and I just cant say enough about how dependable this vehicle and all the others we have owned have been!"

2001 RAV 4

"I purchased the vehicle with 43000 plus miles in 2004 as its second owner. I have never loved a car as they are necessary tools. However, I love the car. It is small but has spacious room for transporting all kinds of materials. I have used it to transport my hand-made items to many craft fairs. I have used it to transport my dog sled and 6 Siberian Huskies for sledding adventures in winter. I drove this vehicle to work for 12 years with no problems in all types of weather. It goes great in snow and rain as the 4-wheel drive kicks in when the climate calls for it."

Pros: "Always starts up, fun to drive, good gas mileage"

Cons: "Radio isn't great, major repair on Transmission,"

"I loved the look of this car when I bought it from the original owner 6 years ago. It was a great car for the first 4 years I had it. The transmission went out just after I hit 150,000 miles. Toyota had an extended warranty on the transmission up to 150,000 miles and I was just over that so they wouldn't cover it. It ended up costing me nearly $3,000 to replace it. I wish I had done my homework a little better before purchasing the car. Apparently this particular year for this model had transmission issues. I bought a Toyota because of their reputation for reliability. In the 6 years I have had the car I have just had to do minor repairs (tires, brakes, etc). I now have to replace the catalytic converter and the struts at 175,000 miles. All in all, I love this car, but I'm not sure I would have purchased it knowing the transmission was bad. That is a very expensive repair."

"Our Toyota Rav4 has been absolutely wonderful! It works well for the hard winter conditions we have here 7-8 months of the year and makes it over the mountain pass near our town consistently and nicely. Very reliable car! Incredibly comfortable and not to big or small when driving and parking. It's very agile when it comes to sharp turns and parallel parking. However, if you are looking for an off-roading car (and I mean off-roading!) then this may be an issue. The 4WD and tires and suspension are all great for general off-roading but unless you lift it and replace the front bumper it can't make any moderately high/extreme off road conditions. Very nice gas mileage as well!!"

Pros: "Reliability, reliability, realiability"

Cons: "Seats are difficult for a small woman to take out."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"It's 2015 I still have my 2002 Rav4. This Toyota and this one is the best I've owned. Some design flaws, such as having to remove the back seats for maximum cargo space (seats can be folded up, but still take some cargo space and they're difficult to handle.) I've only had to replace the water pump and ignition switch, which didn't happen until vehicle was over 10 years old. Of course the usual maintentance and replacement has been done (battery, tires, etc). Reliability is what I look for in a car and there is no better than a Toyota. However, I want a new one because they're bigger and the seats don't have to be taken out for maximum cargo space. I should be able to get a good price for my 2002 because it only has 68k original miles. Love this car."
