I own this car - My approximate mileage is 159,000
overall rating 6 of 10rating detailsLikely to recommend this car? (1-10): 8
"I currently fill up with $40. and it last me 2 weeks or more. But I work less than 3 miles from home. I bought this car from a private owner last year. There is an anoying rattle that I can not find out where it comes from. Usually when I press on the brakes. I currently had the timing belt and valve cover changed. $$$. I bought with the inspection expired, but I thought it was nothing. Thank God for Air Check Texas. To pass emission the bill was $400. plus. Timing belt was close to $500. So I already have $1000 in it that I could not really afford. Comfort is not a strong point. I feel every bump and pot hole, and that is going 30 mph or less. Very bouncy vehicle. But, all around a decent vehicle once I get the oil pump leak fixed, and fix the rattling prob."

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 185,000
overall rating 10 of 10rating detailsPros: "reliable and fun to drive"
Cons: "none really"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"I've had this car for almost 3 years now. Or put in about 80,000 or so miles. No real major problems. The big issues of course with any car is : 1) engine and 2) transmission. Those are the two killers expenses. Glad to say, both run fine. Toyota engines are bulletproof. Knock on wood, no tranmission problems. Then again, not knwoing the history and the high mileage - I smartly avoid changing the transmission fluid (you can produce leaks and ruin the tranny!) Some a/c work I had to do, replace thermostat and a coupel other small things - but nothing major. Car runs beautiful and so much fun to drive!"

"I have had this car for 14 years. It has never broken down, gas milage is good. The body does not have any rust. It handles well and can move out when needed. Not always the case with a small car. Itake it to the garage for regular maintance. It also rides well and the interior is in great shape. All in all a great car."

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 277,000
overall rating 10 of 10rating detailsPros: "green, dated, boxy, but a good old ride"
Cons: "Toyota is no longer "cheap to keep" at the Dealers"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"Just purchased a 2013 RAV4 LE AWD at below list $$$$ (I think). It was a good deal on the new RAV4 model change. Couldn't part with the 1996 RAV with the 277k miles, as a trade, so the goal is to run the RAV to at least 300k miles just because it will. The 2013 will be stabled in the Ohio winters. The only salt it will see is at the ocean shores."

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 264,000
overall rating 10 of 10rating detailsPros: "Great gas milage, low maintenance, reliable"
Cons: "Engine pings sometimes for no reason"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"This is by far the best car I have ever owned, and I have owned 47 different models over a 30-year period of driving. Mine is a white 2-door model. I purchased it used with 156,000 miles on it. It had 1 previous owner and was taken care of very well. The only options are a single disk CD player, cruise control, and air conditioning. No power windows or door locks to worry about. I have put over 100,000 miles on it and the only trouble I have experienced was a leaky water pump, driver’s side wheel bearing, and a leaky oil pump seal. I had the timing belt done when the water pump went. I changed the wheel bearing myself. When I got tired of putting a pan under the car to catch the oil drip (so as to not stain my new driveway), I had Toyota replace it. They did an excellent job, were very professional, quick, and even offered a 10% discount. I don’t baby the car. I merge onto the Interstate at wide open throttle (WOT), keep up with traffic, and even lead the pack sometimes. If I keep my foot out of it I can get 32mpg (with the A/C off). I usually run with the A/C on and drive it pretty hard and still average 27 mpg. I change the oil regularly and keep up with maintenance. I would literally start out on any trip that I could think of and never think twice about it having 264,000 miles on it. In 5 years of ownership I have put over 100,000 miles on it and still only have just over $8,000 in it (including $4,200 I paid for it)."

I owned and sold this car
Reason: Need a newer car with newer safety/crash features for frequent long mileage trips - My approximate mileage is 160,000
Pros: "Workhorse, fun to drive, very versatile vehicle"
Cons: "Should have a 5 speed transmission"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"This is and has been an excellent vehicle. My only complaint has been that it should have been built with a 5 speed transmission as at high speeds, it sounds and feels like it needs to shift. I'm surprised that they still make the Rav4 with the 4 speed, since adding that fifth gear would increase mpg. too. Over all though, this is a great vehicle."
