"Our vehicle has the key sensor so the car knows when you are coming. At night it brings the interior lights up as you approach the car. When you reach out for the handle, it unlocks itself. You can hear the brake pump and coolant circulator start up as well as it gets ready to go, before you even open the door.
This kind of technology goes a long way toward making the vehicle seem even more alive and responsive to your needs. Talk about falling in love with a car!
I believe that if every vehicle made simply provided the same kind of information about real-time and overall mileage, a truly staggering amount of fuel would be saved. It would not be necessary to improve the hardware at all--simply accelerate the evolution of the software in the heads of the driving public. One bit of information that the Prius doesn't provide is a simple gauge to show how many dollars per minute/mile are pouring out of the tailpipe. With this kind of data available, the amount of gasoline required might be cut by 1/3, maybe even 1/2!"
"A solid but not exceptional vehicle, bought new, averaging 40mpg overall. Factory tires are poor for traction. Traction contrl cuts all acceleration at the slightest wheel slip making the car almost useless on slipppery roads; when pulling from side streets on wet roads the car just stops if the wheels slip even a tiny bit, leaving you momentarily stuck and unable to get out of the way of oncoming traffic--so unsafe that I reported it to NHTSA. Became tolerable with better tires. High quality snow tires make a great deal of difference and are ESSENTIAL if you are ever going to drive in ANY snow. Fabric seats soil easily--dumb idea. Fog lights cannot be run independent of regular headlights, making them largely useless. Poor rear vision d/t split rear window--bottom portion (the main viewing area) is ALWAYS dirty and hard to see out of. Quality is high but design issues make me wonder if Japanese designers have ever seen snow or fog. If drier climates woudl be a fine economy car but for NE Ohio, you'll need to upgrade your tires as soon as you buy."
"We purchased this vehicle new and love it. We have driven it across country at least twice. It holds its speed in cruise control better than any vehicle we have ever owned. Wish the exterior paint was a little more durable but other than that, it is wonderful!! We also have a 2007 Tundra."
