Pros: "Very reliable, good mileage, durable"

Cons: "A little noisy at highway speeds (road noise)"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I bought this car new in 2007. I was a little skeptical at first but wanted to save on gas. I previously had a large SUV with a V8 engine that cost about $100 per tank of gas and only got 15 mpg. My Prius averages 40 - 45 mpg. Likes: I bought the Touring model and LOVE the keyless remote that just unlocks the door when I touch the door handle. No more digging in my purse for the FOB to unlock the door. It is plenty roomy for me but I'm not a big person at only 5' 2" tall. This car has never been garaged and sits out in the blazing Texas heat and the exterior paint and interior have held up VERY well. Very reliable overall. Problems: HID headlights have failed repeatedly (3x) and are expensive ($300 - $600 per headlight each time). The main battery failed at about 125,000 miles and had to be replaced. I found that prices varied widely on replacing this critical component from about $4,000 down to less than $1,000. I went with the $1,000 replacement from a Toyota Certified battery specialist here in TX. Testimonial: I have a relative who has run several transportation companies on the east and west coasts. In 2007 he made fun of me for buying the Prius. He thought I should have gone with his favorite car, the Crown Victoria, because he had hundreds of these cars in his business which were used as taxi's. He owned a supercharged Crown Vic himself. Fast forward to 2015 and he now had hundreds of Prius in his fleet. He LOVES the Prius and has since apologized for making fun of me. He currently drives an all electric car. The Prius made a believer out that old school Ford guy."

Pros: "$0.25 per mile, including depreciation."

Cons: "Poor ground clearance."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"This car has NEVER broken down (excluding tire punctures and the 1 time I let the radio run down the engine battery that was almost dead anyway). (Not the traction battery. I drove 400 miles home after a jump, and the replacement was $400.) I (5'11") can sleep comfortably with the seats folded flat. A RV that gets 46 mpg! The only downside is poor ground clearance (1/2 of an Outback). I wish that Toyota provided a metric option for all dashboard displays, and not just the speedometer. I bought this car new and drove all 282500 miles on it!"

Pros: "Gets 40 mi/gallon. Roomy interior. Handles well."

Cons: "Silver/grey color not my favorite."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"This 2004 Prius has been the best car we have ever owned. Unsure if we want to part with it, but it is getting up there with over 140,000 miles (although most mechanics tell us it will likely run fine until 250,000 or so). Would consider selling it for the right price --provided she goes to a good home. ;) No damage on the exterior and interior is clean and without any stains or noticeable wear/damage."

"I ordered this car new and now have 117,000 miles on it...Most reliable, least problematic car I have owned...Traded some mpg for touring suspension which improves handling and still average 39 mpg driving mostly at 75-80 mph...great space, which is flexible"

Pros: "Price, economy, utility, dependability"

Cons: "Lack of armrest padding! That's all!"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"having owned two second generation Prius, I have nothing but praise for them. These are marvels of technological genius, that function flawlessly...most dependable car on the road. Just take a look in metro areas anywhere in the world to see the prime choice of taxi drivers...its Prius, hands down. The mechanical marvel is just the beginning. The interior is the most efficient, functional, and spacious work of automotive art in existence"

Pros: "milage and reliability"

Cons: "not the best for long trips"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I purchased this car new in 2005. It has been a very good car, no mechanical problems, very reliable, and outstanding fuel economy. I've had to buy tires, a new starter battery, change the oil, and replace one LED tail light in 10 years of ownership. The navigation system is nice, but I have not updated the maps in 8 years due to the high cost of the updates."
