"After all these years it is still a head turner. Love this little car. Very limited cargo space, but we have managed nice vacations with it. You learn how to pack lightly."

Pros: "Great acceleration, corners "on a rail", Fun, Fun!"

Cons: "I haven't found any."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"Have always liked these cars since their introduction in 1985. Test drove one then but the time was never 'right.' Finally got one recently of the last body style (there were three.) This is the best, most fun car I have ever owned! The fact that it is a permanent convertible doesn't hurt either. 15 sec to get the top up or down (manual.) Even in the winter it is plenty warm in the cabin and due to its small size, it heats up quick too! Too bad they didn't make more of these so more people could experience them."

Pros: "Fun, easy to maintain, very reliable, unique."

Cons: "Limited carry space, needs special snow M/S tires"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9

"This car is great a daily comutter or a weekend run about. It s very reliable, easy to maintain, parts are fairly easy to find, and just a fun way to cruise. My car is 14 years old, still has its original soft top, paint looks new, seat and carpet show minor wear and has only required oil chnages and regular maintenance. My wife usue the cas on the weekends and have made 1,000 miles trips; packed lightly and added a luggage rack on the back."

Pros: "Toyota, Reliability, MPG, Fun Factor"

Cons: "Storage, but you don't buy it for storage!"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I had a yellow 2001 MR2 spyder several years ago, I sold it because of a job transfer and have missed that little car ever since. Since that time I have had other cars (including an 08 RX8), but nothing compares to the MR2 in driving satisfaction. The Mrs. and I just found and purchased our second 2001 MR2 spyder, except this one was white and I love the color combo much better. Drving one of these machines is an awesome experience like no other. It only weighs about 2200 pounds so the small 1.8L, 138hp engine is fine to accelerate and gets great MPG. The twisties in the road are what makes this car fun and exciting. It handles just like a go-cart with immediate feedback and feel of the road to hug the corners. Everything on the styling is awesome and you frequently get looks (ok, gawks) or people asking what the heck kind of car it is. Most can't believe it is a 13 year old car. Another positive aspect of this car is being a Toyota and the engine is the same one in the corolla's so repairs are cheap and easy to maintain. I think mine will need a new top soon, but other than that it is solid and a bargain to have some fun. The only thing you can knock this car on is the non-existent storage with no real trunk and only a small space behind the seats - but the thrill of driving the car outwieghs the negative storage and you just pack lighter if you are taking it somewhere! This is an excellent car and they are becoming extinct with the last model year in 2005 - get'em while you can to enjoy driving with the top down and zipping around the corners and thank me later!"

Pros: "Excellent handling, awesome gas mileage, reliable."

Cons: "Uuuh... Where do I put this??"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I'm a mopar guy. That's right, beef-eating muscle nut. My first venture into the import world was the NA (90-97) miata. It was an alright car, but mine kinda fell apart in a classic case of you get what you pay for. This year I got my income tax and started looking for another miata when a friend at work offered to sell me his '02 spyder. Three days, and I'm in love. This thing holds the road like no other, actually pretty torquey for a four-banger, and ten bucks actually does something as far as gas goes. 30 mpg. A big step up from the 8-12 mpg I'm used to with my classic. This thing is loads of fun, but can't really handle fun loads, as the trunk is next to non-existent. But, if you bought this car for it's stellar storage capacity, you've got bigger problems than figuring out where to stash that giant stuffed bear you just had to have."

Pros: "Fun to drive and it is a convertible of course."

Cons: "Tight to get in and out because you sit very low"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"This car has the electronic transmission that you shift with either the spring loaded shift lever or the buttons on the steering wheel. This makes it a fun car to drive and there is no clutch but it behaves like a straight stick and I get 30 to 34 MPG in Urban driving."
