"I bought it when it was 2 years old, but only had 13,000 miles on it. Still smelled new. Never had any trouble out of it. Most reliable car I've owned. Get great gas milage too. I get 24 on the highway. Still running like new at 116,000 miles."

"Most reliable vehicle I've ever owned! I bought it for its well known quality and I wanted a vehicle I could haul large items in. I've been extremely satisfied with all aspects of this car. It has never needed to go to the shop for any repair other than to get new tires and have an oil change."

"Bought this Highlander new, today is the first unscheduled maintenance. Had a module go out. $1833.00 for repair. Not bad for a 10 year vehicle and 112000 miles."

"Bought this 2003 Highlander in May 2006 and have enjoyed this car thoroughly! It is very roomy inside, easy to see out of rear view mirrors and has great handling! maintenance is reasonable as long as you keep the oil changed and replace worn parts. Would not hesitate to buy another Highlander, this car is very dependable ! Cargo area is much larger than other SUV's."

Pros: "Safe, reliable, easy to drive."

Cons: "Roof rack makes washing and waxing top of vehicle"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"This is an excellent vehicle for a family or anyone who wants a safe reliable SUV. Easy to drive. Very comfortable ride in town or on road. Toyota does put a "strange" alignment on rear tires, so to avoid uneven wear on tires, a competent alignment shop can reset alignment and you will have NO problem with uneven tire wear if you rotate tire every 8K or so. I have 4 cylinder model and it is very economical. Maintenance on 4 cylinder model is much cheaper than on V6. Have had no problems with vehicle and have 115K miles on it. AC and heater are excellent. Comfortable seats. Smooth ride. Very good visibility. Sad to see this model redesigned."

Pros: "Quiet, comfortable, stable, reliable."

Cons: "Too firm seats; dangerous splash back from puddles"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9

"My fourth Toyota and there's a reason I keep buying. Not the most exciting car on the road, but safe and stable vehicle dynamics make this an excellent car for both younger and older drivers, as well as families. I have had two non maintenance-related items. Final drive oil leak was 2/3 rds paid for by Toyota (known issue--covert warranty). Brakes have been an issue, mostly due to poor dealer performance and incompetent technicians. Gas mileage runs 16-23 (winter to summer overall). This is not an inexpensive family car, either to buy or to maintain, but it rewards with slow depreciation."
