"Bought used at dealer in florida car had 113k miles and I paid $13k for it and may have found deal but I liked the car. Three 1/2 yr latter i'm putting my first money into it which is simply the car battery! It runs great, smooth ride, I LOVE all the window space to look out for other cars. Its great I can put my dogs in the back, or lots of groceries. I've even slept VERY COMFORTABLY with plenty of room in the back. It now has $126,400 miles which Kelly book says is above average. I hear the car can go 200k miles and i'm not selling until it starts costing too much $ to keep it- I LOVE IT gas mileage not so great but its a suv and its really not so bad avg 20mpg it now has 126,455 miles was 113k miles 3 1/2 yr ago"

"owned for about 16months now, have put about 16K on it, have No complaints about this Highlander. Drives Great runs good, very comfortable well laid out and gets about 20 mpg, wouldn't mind better, but not bad for a all wheel drive suv. 148K and still like a 2yr old truck"

Pros: "reliable, perfect size, good body integrity."

Cons: "upolstery gets dirty easily, air conditioning"

"Just sold my beloved friend today. Getting a new one after 12 great, problem free years. Been very happy with the car, but things are starting to happen at this point, and the car is starting to show its age. I almost feel like a traitor, the car has been good to us through thick and thin. With us, it made it to 196,000 miles, and hopefully will go many more with its new owners. I only hope the new Highlander is as reliable and friendly."

Pros: "Great sturdy car, Great Visibility and mileage"

Cons: "The A/C seems to be a problem with Highlanders."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I originally bought the car in a state where I didn't need 4WD, having said that, now that I live in a snow state the car has handled quite well as long as I have had good all season tires on. Usually I'll buy them just before the winter hits. In 10 years I have added 265,000 + miles and it's still going strong. I've only had two problems with it. One is the back axle was bent (still not sure how that happened) so I got lifetime alignment for it where I purchase my tires so that has been a great investment. And the other problem has been when the AC is on, there is a rattling noise. The mechanics that looked it over all seem to have just fixed a highlander with the same problem. But if those are my only problems I am totally happy with it. I have never had other issues with it. And after 10 years, I still can't part ways with it. Maybe when I pay off my spouses car I may look into another Highlander, but I hope to have this car for many more years to come."

Cons: "suspension-needed new struts-everything else great"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"Love the 3.3 engine, easy to utilize roof-rack w/cross beams, flat lay-down 3rd seat for awesome hauling capability. All the seats are very comfortable and easily accessible to get in/out. Even after 8 years shines up great. Only additions was replacing struts @45k miles. Drives fantastic with honest 17.8mph city/22.5-24mpg regular gas :) Brakes look suffice and tows boat well with no increase in water temperature BUT IF I took it over 100 miles w/heavy boat I would definitely add oil cooler (just in case???). Traveling in bright sun, snow, wind/rain-NO problem as it tracks very well. SO, yea, I do enjoy it! (Last vehicle: Land Cruiser and Tornado."
