"I purchased without doing any research. I went to the dealership to buy a Jaris, but was surprised that I could get the 2009 Corolla for nearly the same price and it was actually a real car compared to the Jaris. Did not drive it, look under the hood, or kick the tires. So far it has been great! Gets better gas milage than my wifes 08 Honda Accord."
Cons: "Worst Car to date - bad headrests, cheap body,"

"My 1st Corolla was 1989 from Japan; great car and mileage. For 5'5" woman, fit perfectly. High marks on safety, reliability, minimal maintenance. The last 2 were built in Canada. The new engine sucks. Maintenance Required light on after 3 weeks of new purchase Ext. larger but interior smaller; entry between cabin & trunk smaller. Rear doors angled so cargo difficult to load. Sunlight reflects off metallic logo in center of steering wheel. 3rd Corolla 1999 got 44mph highway/38 city this pc of junk gets 34 highway; both 5-speed manual transmission. Could not get electric windows w/ manual trans. Sun-roof not option either - so added after-factory unit. Noisy, rough ride. More noise than the 10yr old '99 - sorry sold that one. Dangerous to backup without removing headrests in back seat. Reversed headrest so can drive - Car built for 5'9" man so shape of seat & headrest hits in bad places [like airline seats]. Seat too close to pedals for safety; dread airbag deployment. ALL cheap plastic; fender tears and undercarriage held w/ plastic nuts which break off, then the cover flies off. Lousy paint; car scratches/dings easily. Can't comfortably hold 4th person; no room behind short driver. Seatbelt Alarm when groceries/cargo on seat."
