Pros: "Fun to drive, best bang for the buck"

Cons: "Noisy interior, short trips recommended"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"My 2000 Toyota Celica GT-S always put a smile to my face. It's a ton of fun to drive around, but you'll also get the sense that it's got the build quality of Toyota, and the surprising everyday practicality for such a stylish car inside and out. You got a high-revving engine pushing 100/hp per liter (1.8L/180hp) that revs to 8300rpm, and short throwing six-speed manual, aluminum pedals that are PERFECT for heel-toe shifting. The car is ridiculously light; it has a pretty noticeably long wheelbase, but its still much lighter than ford fiesta. Leather bucket seats and leather steering wheel. This is a very good driver's car. One thing to note, it does get a bit weary for long trips, as cabin noise is awful. That can be fixed with some music though. The seats, though comfortable, aren't plush enough to help you through long trips. Overall, this car is surprisingly pratical. The trunk is huge, you could fit two adults inside it. For a peppy engine, the MPG is more than moderate, getting 27mpg combined, the best I got was 33mpg on the highway. If you need a car for a teen wanting to learn how to drive a sporty car without breaking the bank, this car is the one you should take a look at. Don't spend your money on the Scion tC, it's slower, heavier, not as good looking, subpar interior quality than the Celica GT-S."

Pros: "MPG, engine, tight handling, looks"

Cons: "premium fuel only, noisy hatch,"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"The car is 14 years old and still looks unique compared to the cars of today. At a naturally aspirated 100hp/liter, this 1.8 is impressive even for today's standards. It's quite peppy due to the lightness of the vehicle when paired with a 6 speed manual. I'm pretty sure it weighs in at less than 2500lbs and it's like a Go-Kart with air condition in the corners. It gets great gas mileage even with spirited driving. I average about 28 mpg with a heavy foot. Unfortunately, with 11.5:1 compression ratio, you're paying for premium fuel at the pump. It will not run as smooth as it should when filled with regular. The engine has no bottom end grunt which may make some cringe while slipping the clutch in stop-and-go traffic. Like most other hatchbacks, the hatch gets noisy with age. This is fixed with about $40 of stealership parts (price was years ago). Unlike the stereotypical Honda, this engine is not forgiving of maintenance-complacent owners. If you do take care of it, it will last many years. With a driver's seat and dash that looks cockpit inspired and an urge to go fast, this car will put a smile on your face when going through the gears. The moment you hit lift and feel the additional 40hp, you'll momentarily forget about the bad day you may have had. The 7th generation Celica is by far one of my most favorite cars I've had the pleasure to own and drive. I recommend this car to anyone who wants great gas mileage and still be able to pass a few cars with ease on your way home from work."

Pros: "I call it the sleek, sexy, silver Celica"

Cons: "No cruise control. But don't need it on Guam."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I bought this car new & have never had a problem with anything mechanical. No engine, transmission,(& I'm rough on a clutch) brake or drive train problems. Had a leak in the power steering cooling pipe, the only problem ever. That has been repaired. I'd keep this car till it becomes a classic except I need a truck. Hate to sell it but it could give me a down payment on a truck."

Pros: "Reliable, Fuel Efficient, Sporty"

Cons: "None"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I have loved this car ever since I was little. My sister has an 02 GT, the same year and model as mine. I loved hers so much I bought one. The design still triumphs ugly two door cars of our modern day auto market. My celica consistently averages 38mpg. I have maxed out a tank of gas to get 458 miles on just one tank. I love mine have taken very good care of it. I plan on keeping it forever and keeping it as genuine and prime to Toyota. It has never broken down or had any mechanical problems. If you change the brakes, oil, and tires it will run for forever. It handles better than any car I've ever driven. I lend to a few close friends here and there and they have all asked me to sell it to them. These were discontinued by Toyota in 05. Although they still hold their value and will only continue to go up, they are a highly sought after import tuner. As for space, I have a dead body trunk, it's huge. The backseat space is good, but remember if you're buying a small two door car, space obviously isn't a priority to you. I love this car and hope I can drive it for the rest of my life."

Pros: "Fun to drive, low center of gravity, scoots!"

Cons: "No padded arm rests, ergonomics need refining"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9

"The Celica has style and very good fuel economy but lacks in comfort on long trips. No padding for arms and the Over Drive button gets hit when changing the radio settings. Cup holders are in the way when being used. Fresh air enters via the door panels so on cold days you'll feel it on the leg closest to the door by the speaker louver panel. As far as the back seat goes, well, not for grown folks that's for sure! But the kiddos love it! No problems with engine or transmission. Kept oil changed and serviced by dealer and local shop so maintained every 3 months at least. No problems seeing when backing. Just use the mirrors and turn head. At night, I lower the drivers door mirror to keep the headlights from blinding me. This vehicle has a nice set of high beams. Just saying. I run a highway tire for quite rides but an aggressive performance tire would definitely come in handy for those corners when getting onto the interstate. I also installed dynamat sound deadening all through out the vehicle just to keep any road noise to a minimum. Have owned the vehicle since September 2005 and never regretted the purchase."
