"Bought new in late 2003. Incredible car! It thinks it's an SUV & has a hitch to pull a small trailer. I've carried an electronic organ hanging out the back as well as tons of other stuff. Fold-down seats allow for amazing hauling capacity. Still original timing chain. No major repairs.
Driven many long trips over the years, including 2,000 miles in a week this past Christmas. Good family trip car, especially for four people.
Driver's seat leather split after many years. Rear headrests discolored badly, speaker grilles in back disintegrated in sun, and headliner in back now coming loose. All minor things, in my book, due to lack of garage.
Now pursuing four wheel drive since I live in the Smoky Mountains, but will keep the Camry for back-up."
"I bought this car in March of 2004. It had 13,000 miles when I bought it. Just turned 445,000 about 2 weeks ago. I love my little Road Runner and hope to get it to 500,000 miles. She is still going strong."
"I have loved this car since 2002 when I bought it new. However, after taking care of this vehicle, always going to the dealership to ensure the work was done right.
I was surprised yesterday, 4 Jan 16, to learn at my local dealership that I might have to spend from $2000 to $4000 to replace the engine head gasket or purchase a new engine due to leaking transmission. Apparently, this is not horribly uncommon with this model, which I was not aware. This is truly a nightmare and I am shocked. I might end up having to purchase an entire new-used or new vehicle. I HAVE TAKEN CARE OF THIS VEHICLE AND HAVE RARELY DRIVEN IT. THIS IS WRONG but not the fault of the shop maintenance personnel of Toyota."
