"I have loved this car since 2002 when I bought it new. However, after taking care of this vehicle, always going to the dealership to ensure the work was done right.
I was surprised yesterday, 4 Jan 16, to learn at my local dealership that I might have to spend from $2000 to $4000 to replace the engine head gasket or purchase a new engine due to leaking transmission. Apparently, this is not horribly uncommon with this model, which I was not aware. This is truly a nightmare and I am shocked. I might end up having to purchase an entire new-used or new vehicle. I HAVE TAKEN CARE OF THIS VEHICLE AND HAVE RARELY DRIVEN IT. THIS IS WRONG but not the fault of the shop maintenance personnel of Toyota."
"This car has been excellent. I have not had any major problems with it. The car has been well maintained and the oil has been changed every 3000 miles. I just had the front bumper replaced. The bumper had been damaged when caught on a parking curb. When the car is started in the morning it burns oil that has dripped on the cylinder over night. A Toyota mechanic told me this was more an inconvenience than a problem. This only happens when the car is first started. The mechanic told me this is not uncommon for a four cylinder Toyota."
Pros: "Great price. Single owner. Used as family vehical"
Cons: "Needs some body work. Side mirror glass."
