Pros: "Smooth ride, comfortable, reliable under the hood"

Cons: "All the stuff that fell apart inside."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9

"We still own this car and love it. After 13 years, it still feels like you are riding on air when you drive. There have been some minor issues... the center console fell apart a few years ago, the handle on the driver side seat adjustment broke a few months ago, the rear speakers rattle when you listen to music, which began about six years ago, and about four years ago the driver side window began engaging and rolling down on its own randomly; the sunroof started opening on its own about a year ago. However, we have had zero trouble under the hood. No weird sounds, no transmission issues, engine is good."

"I purchased this Avalon as a used car in 2004 with 20,000 miles on it. To date it has provided 130,000 trouble free miles. Other than scheduled maintenance, I have spent a total of $75 on repairs. This is by far the best vehicle I have ever owned."

Pros: "Comfortable and reliable"

Cons: "Too pricey for light driving"

"The Avalon is an amazing car. I love the comfort and reliability. Repairs have been only normal wear and tear. Bought it new and have been able to rely on it from day one. Drove it to work (44 miles daily) for 10 years and chauffeured teens everywhere. Drove college student to and from for four years. It was a pleasure to drive. I would buy another one but price is too high for what driving I do now."

Pros: "Floaty, Great Value, Fun To Drive, Reliable"

Cons: "No Aux Port"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I've had this car for over 4 years and it is the best automotive purchase I have made to date! I bought it in 2011 with 160K on it (I know) and as such, expected some normal problems. Not one. I drove this baby TO and FROM Northern California, a combined total of 5000 miles, and didn't have a single problem with it until about 6 months ago. Even then, problems have been so minor. This is an ABSOLUTELY phenomenal car. It drives well, and retains its value nicely. If you're thinking about purchasing one of these bad boys, DO IT. You won't be sorry."

"It has 296,000 miles on it and still runs and feels like a new car. I've taken good care of it re servicing, etc. I have never "had" to take it in for a problem. You just can't go wrong with this car."

Pros: "Bullet-proof"

Cons: "Brakes. The rotors warp a little soon."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I'm still driving my '02 Avalon. It had nearly 300,000 miles when it slung a rod. I learned that my teenage son had been hot rodding the engine (that explains it). Anyway, I replaced the motor with a used one with only 105,000 miles for $3,000. It was cheaper than buying a newer used car and I love all of the niceties on my Avalon that I would not get on another used car. This car has been bullet proof. The fit and finish is still very good. The overall integrity of the car is excellent. Still drives better than a lot of newer cars. I'm still driving it over 500 miles per week back and forth to work. It doesn't complain and I have only had to keep it serviced regularly. I am currently in the market for a 2011 (or so) Avalon with around 100,000 miles. I will pass this one on to my daughter who needs a car. I have been spoiled by my Avalon and I am quite honestly a little afraid to venture out and give another car a chance to prove it's reliability versus the Avalon. If you are near 50 years old like me, get over your image issues regarding the Avalon's styling. Allow your common sense to take over and choose quality and reliability over faddish whims."
