"My 1998 Avalon luckily fell in my lap while looking for a "hold over" when I totaled my Jeep in 2009. At first I wasn't crazy about the car, only because of its plain exterior.(I've always owned sporty vehicles.) However over the past 4 1/2 years it has completely won me over. The 3.0 engine has a lot of pep, while being great on gas. The ride is very smooth, & it goes well in the snow also. Everything in the car works perfectly, including the sound system,(am/fm, CD, cassette) AC, power windows/locks & moonroof. It is also a very spacious car, including the enormous trunk. The only maintenance has been the usual oil/filter changes, brakes, tires, & both oxygen sensors. I noticed some small rust forming on a rear wheel well, otherwise the body is spotless. It is the best overall car I have ever owned, & it's in it's 18th year!"

"I have owned a 99 Avalon for nearly two years. This car runs, drives and handles EXCEPTIONALLY well. I prefer to drive this car over my 2012 Kia. Only issue I have had is one of the rear calipers started to stick and my check engine light came on. The light was easily fixed by putting a new $20 Toyota OE gas cap on. And, when I bought the car the sunroof would only pop up and wouldn't slide. No biggee because I dislike sunroofs anyway. I am constantly looking to buy another one that has been take care of. I honestly believe this 3.0 Engine will go over 300k miles. I get around 29 mpg on the highway."
