Pros: "fun to drive and good price"

Cons: "Cup holders are in bad spot"

"My Grandfather bought this suv right off the lot in 1996 drove it right up into 2008 until he died.it had been sitting for 7 years then I decided to see how it was doing. Its the base 4x4 with the 4 speed automatic. The seat do show the high milage but there still somewhat comfortable. Anyways since it is a toyota , with a little bit of cleaning a a boast she started right up without hesitation.Rusty , but that just give it character! I would recomend this car to anyone, it has never left anyone down in my family I hate to see the day when she goes!"

Pros: "dependabilty"

Cons: "none"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"easy to work on and very well made my 96 Toyota 4 runner has been in my family for over 10 years and I have done all the repairs on it myself which is very little. I wasn't crazy about Toyotas till my mother and father passed away leaving this 4 runner to me.i have been driving it for about 6 years and I have never owned a vehicle in my life as dependable as this one it has never let me down or left me stranded on the side of the road. Other than regular maintance tires, brakes, etc I have invested less than a hundred dollars in parts in the past 6 years. Not bad for a 19 year old vehicle. I would highly recommend a Toyota 4 runner to any one"

Pros: "Durable, dependable, stylish, fun to drive"

Cons: "Cup holders are flimsy, no rear air vents"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"Can't say enough about Toyota or the 4Runner. I'm the second owner (14+ years) of a 1997 Limited with 305K miles. It has been the most dependable and functional vehicle I've owned. Obviously, the high mileage has resulted in repairs, but only in the past 2 years has anything major been needed. Love this car!"

Pros: "Will run forever, excellent in snow"

Cons: "Slow, rides like a 3/4 ton truck"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 6

"These old 4Runner's will never let you down. They are slow, ride rough, and don't get very good gas mileage, but they will never leave you stranded. They are amazing in the snow and off-road. Seats are low, don't have great lumbar support, and have short bottom seat cushions (no thigh support for taller folks). If you need a reliable camping or winter car, this is a great choice. If you're looking for comfort on longs trips, look elsewhere, or maybe just one of the newer 4Runner's."

Pros: "Reliability, quality and value"

Cons: "radio antenna, cup holder, gas mil low 20's hwy?"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"This has been a reliable well running vehicle. I've owned a few other autos and this has been the best ever. I keep it because it just keeps going. Just traveled cross country with out a hitch! Just do the maintenance on this vehicle and you will have a truck that will last easily over 300,000 miles. This con is the cup holder and the antennae for the radio. Other than that it seems to run as smoothly as the day I bought it. No transmission or engine issues other than old age ( alternator changed, and one fuel injector) in over 15 years. Thats it!"

Pros: "Reliable, durable, capable, great off road, hauls"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"Incredibly reliable and durable truck. Have taken it on many touch four wheel drive trails and thousands of miles of general rough roads with great performance. Has never stranded me. The only issues have been expected for the mileage, such as a wheel bearing. Hauls a lot of gear and people. Spacious yet maneuverable. Easy to take the rear seats out for a little over 6 feet of room to sleep or haul boards, appliances, furniture, and other large items. The sliding rear window is nice for this too and is a great feature."
