Pros: "Drives like a boss"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"Drives like a boss in the winter. I bought it at 2K needing a cheap reliable car. It only had one owner prior to me. it's comfortable, full loaded with leather ,sunroof and I never get stuck in the snow. Plus it's a 5 speed and fun to drive. I have to say I'm sold on subie now. Have only bought new tires for it in a year of ownership. not bad subie. not bad!"

Pros: "super fun to drive"

Cons: "not enough cup holders. My only complaint!"

"Our 1997 Outback saved my husband's life when he was pushed off the road and the car flipped, we just bought our second one together, but he had two others before. I have never owned such a reliable car, so good in bad weather, big enough to fit a family of five, driving a manual is so much fun. You don't have to be worried about going a little off road cause a Subaru can totally handle it! Many roads around here are dirt and gravel with huge pot holes, and these cars handle it with no problem. I recommend them to everyone I know who is looking for a new car. Sure as heck beats any ford/Chevy/dodge/etc."

Pros: "Great cargo space, comfort, AWD."

Cons: "Pricey maintenance."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 7

"We bought our subaru a week before the birth of our first child and have loved it, for the most part. It's got us out of the neighbourhood during several blizzards, and ferried us packed to the gills with strollers, bicycles and pairs of skis all around the region. However, there have been some serious maintenance issues beginning when the car was about 8 years old. For the past 3 years the repair bills have been seriously mounting, which is disappointing. It's time to move on."

Pros: "Subaru AWD"

Cons: "Engine is prone to head gasket failure, etc."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 1

"I don't know where to begin except to say Subarus are very overrated. We have had nothing but problems from the very beginning. They are very expensive to own and maintain. The engine (4 cyl, 2.5L) is low on power, gets poor gas mileage (19mpg) and is prone to head gasket failure and other expensive timing belt replacement. We have also had to replace the CV axles and brakes, and the transmission is starting to slip so we are done with it. Also, the interior is uncomfortable and difficult to get in and out of because the tilt steering wheel sits too low, even when at its highest position. And, why can't Subaru include adjustable intermittent wipers instead of the factory single speed is beyond me. Upon doing more research I have found that even new Subarus still use the same flawed engine design and are prone to problems. Will never buy a Subaru ever again."

"I should be dead. but I'm not, and I can thank Subaru for that, TWICE. I've been hit head-on by a full size pickup, and rear-ended while at a dead stop, by a Hummer doing 75 mph. I walked away both times. The cars were totaled, but the crumple zones did their jobs, and averted passenger-compartment intrusion. Even the cops were impressed. And I LOVE just tooling around in front of pickups stuck in snow at stop signs!"

"I've only had this vehicle for about a month. It has been an awesome ride thus far. It comes with auto start, alarm system, heated seats, super clean interior, and super clean exterior."
