If you like equal parts sport and utility in your SUV, the Forester is maneuverable in the city, yet roomy and capable enough for weekend excursions off the beaten path. You'll also like its low start
If you want six cylinders, seven seats or rear-seat entertainment, the Forester is not for you. And although a 5-speed manual transmission is standard on the base and 2.5X Premium models, a SportShift
Off-roading in the Subaru Forester showcased the vehicle's firmer suspension, direct steering and notable ground clearance, all of which came into play when traversing rocks and ditches. Also helpful was the Forester's standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system, capable of transferring up to 100 percent of the engine's power to the wheels with the best traction. Back on pavement, we liked the added get-up-and-go of the turbocharged models (who wouldn't?), but those with a more practical and budget-minded outlook will be just as happy das

"We were sold a bag of goods on this one. Sales guy told us the vehicle could tow boats and trailers (not the case). The doors must be slammed. The front seats are uncomfortable for more than a 30 minute ride. The service of the sales, parts, and service departments has been less than professional. But our biggest complaint is the gas mileage. We are averaging between 18-23 mpg, about the same as a full size pickup. We are flabbergasted that Subaru has repeat customers."

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 23,000
overall rating 10 of 10rating detailsPros: "Affordable, roomy, fun to drive, fast, nimble,"
Cons: "Noisy fan at high settings, premium gas for turbo"

"There are not enough exemplary words in my vocabulary to describe what I feel about this SUV. There is a good reason why PhDs prefer this car over any other. Value, flexibility, comfort affordability and, yes, power (in my turbo version). Other nice traits: Great visibility. Nimble. Small turning radius. Spacious. Good mileage for an AWD. Great, sedate ride. Fast, with the turbo. Easy to service. AND...it looks plain, but classy. Just love it!!"
