"I purchased this forester with 33,000 miles for just over $17000. It ran great for about 70,000 miles, and then the repairs started. Rear wheel bearing, spark plug oil seals, head gasket (pending), exhaust flanges, front and rear bushings, undercarriage rust. It will cost about $4000 to keep this car on the road. I will be trading it in, most likely."

"I'm from Minnesota and just got this car from a friend 2013 summer. I have yet to have a problem in 20k miles, drove it to Nebraska and back non-stop with zero issues, the 5 speed is on par and clutch works amazing still. Being from Minnesota we had a especially rough winter this year and the car started every single time whether it was -40 or above freezing. The AWD system is amazing, I had slid in to a ditch across from a parking lot due to some hockey rink style ice and I drove out of 3 feet of snow like it was dry grass. I cant say enough good things about this car. Not to mention I average 23-26 mpg at 180k miles (combo of city and highway)!"

Pros: "great price"
Cons: "needs brakes and tires"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 8
"This car runs great, however, it needs new brakes and tires. May also need a battery due to has been sitting for a while. Has minor scratches on the left side and a slightly cracked windshield that does not need to be fixed - I drove with it for a long time like that."

I owned and sold this car
Cons: "everything else"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 1
"I owned the car for two months. The dealer didnt tell me it needed a coil pack thermostat vbelt new battery breaks rotors tires struts etc. I get a new thermostat once the coolant circulates theres a huge leak and not even ten miles down the road power steering goes car stalls and wont start I paid 1000S put 800$ into it and had to junk it only recieving 300$ do not buy a forester they have way too many issues. If you get a subaru get it new and tale good care of it look up how and when to manage we and service you car. Also do not believe mechanics they will let your car have issues to get your money.they tried making me warp my head gaskets"
