2002 Forester, purchased new in 2001...13 years old in 2014...it's been everywhere!

"It needed minimal repairs throughout it's life, and took me everywhere I wanted to go. Great for dirt roads, because of the higher wheel base! The driver's side rear wheel bearing went out twice, but the other one was fine. At 213,000 miles, it still has the original hoses, one set of brakes are original, most lightbulbs are original...Only had to replace headlights, belts, timing belt... Eventually, had to replace struts. It never left me stranded, and it had enough interior space for me to haul anything...I got three hay bales in it one time! I love this car!!"

Pros: "As reliable as they come"

Cons: "Could use a 6th gear"

"This Subaru Forester never fails to start up and run out perfectly no matter what winter throws it's way. Gas mileage average is 27 mpg. Not bad for an AWD car that doesn't have the sleekest aerodynamics."

Pros: "Great ride and reliable. 4WD. Fun, Suburu!"

Cons: "No cons."

"This is the best car that I have ever owned. Drives like a dream, feels so good to drive. Very reliable and solid. Feels like it will drive to 300,000 miles. I just love it. I test drove a 2012 and a 2014 Suburu Forester and realized I did not want any car except mine. My 2003 drives better than the 2012 and 2014 Forester. It is a very comfortable, reliable car and it drives beautifully on snow and rain with the All Wheel Drive. I just love it!"

"We loved everything about this car. We bought a 1999 in the fall - but got hit by a semi-trailer. The car was totaled, but everyone walked away so we bought another 3 months later! We do not drive a lot, but have had the car in the mountains, snow, ice, etc and love how it drives in more challenging climates. It's also great as a regular road car in Texas. Good mileage. We only had 3 unexpected repair bills on the car in 14 years. 2 were for wheel bearings and 1 was for a cracked radiator. It cost about $400 to repair the wheel bearings and $300 for a new radiator. I suspect the head gasket was also cracked, which was a probably for this model year, but sealant fluid made this a minor issue. I would definitely recommend a Subaru Forrester."

Pros: "Space, gas mileage, huge moon roof, 6 disc changer"

Cons: "No 6 cyl available"

"I own this lovely 2002 Subaru Forester. A snow storm hit Ga incase you hadn't heard :). There were plenty of cars stuck on the road but my Forester would not quit! She was determined to get us home. During my trek home I saw Lexus, Chevy and GMC SUV's on the side of the road but my little car was on a mission! My whole journey of 12 miles took me 11 1/2 hours home. I had to get up a few steep hills but she can't ticking. I had a Mercedes follow me as I took a hill(At a very slow pace of course) and I made it home very safely. Not bad for a car I purchased in 2010 for $4500. I thought about getting a Ford Flex for my next car but my forester has really proven herself to be a TOP DAWG! I would def recommend this car to anyone living in a cold weather state!"
